Why, why, why must you rage on and on and on...?
I know it's the primaries and spirited political banter is all part of the game, but some of you seem to be on a 24/7 seek and destroy mission. It may be about Hillary or it may be about Barack. What I don't understand is why do you promote eating one of our own? Others call it a circular firing squad.

No minds are changed --- and freeper trolls love to feed on it.

What good does it do our party, this wonderful site called DU, your karma, or our chances of victory in the GE by spewing out hate directed at a Democrat? Why must you rage on and on and on and continue when nobody hears what you say, but simply reacts to the hate?

Obama needs Hillary supporters as much as Hillary supporters needs Obama supporters. Because when the dust settles, the real enemy will do far, far more than insult your candidate on DU. The real enemy if he wins will further erode your personal liberties and Constitutional rights more than you can imagine.

It's time to stop and ask yourself --- does this post help or hurt us win the GE?

peace~:)

Since "No minds are changed" it sounds like it makes no whatsoever difference in the GE.

7. To clarify...
Just about everybody here is voting Dem.

After 20 debates, I doubt many people will change their mind because of something REALLY negative. An outside chance I may convince someone by telling you how wonderful Barack is...

The minds I refer to are those of the enlightened variety that tend to chill in these parts - their called Democrats!

My point - negative advertising only hurts us and changes no minds (OK, maybe 1 or 2) on DU.

A unified and positive front out there wins us the GE. A fucked up inter-party fight could lose it.

8. I don't understand it either
I have never hated a single Democratic candidate going back to when I first started paying attention (childhood doesn't count, so I'll start with Carter, LOL). I've liked them all, right down to the big-eared Paul Simon and the controversial Fritz Hollings and... okay, maybe I hated David Duke, nobody's perfect. But I don't get the hostility. I'll move to Peru before I ever vote for a Republican, or even just not vote. I don't get it.

the "peer pressure" to be hateful online is tremendous.

12. I don't think it's peer pressure.
Anonymity on the internet allows people to release their inner asshole. Some people will be jerks because there's no real penalty. I call it "web balls".

14. LOL, love that term "web balls"

I agree with the anonymity factor.

The peer pressure idea actually came to me in another context. I work with teens, so keep an eye on MySpace in general. You can see certain themes, tones, language being copied and repeated in a way that sort of parallels the political slashing and burning/hatred/assholery thrust on DU. Just a point of interest.

It's really getting old reading threads like "1,000,000 reasons to vote for-----" or "Why you should not vote for -----", etc., etc. At this point most of us have voted in our primaries. And in any case, made up our minds. Why people waste their time like this is beyond me.

17. They'll be here soon, and they'll have all kinds of justifications. But you are
absolutely right. Some of these people should be working for the RNC, they are so adept at spewing completely useless bile. No doubt some of them are trolls and actually would love to (or already do) work for the RNC, but some are long-time members of DU and should really know better.
