When Hillary wins OH & TX will Obama supporters still be asking her to exit the race
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 02:21 AM by jlake
or will they finally acknowledge that it *is* a close race and that she may very well win it?

1. I would think so. I do not think this is a "lock" for Obama by a longshot.
The main reason I'm going to TX this weekend to canvas for Obama is because I do not think he has it in the bag.

19. Good luck in Texas! Where will you be going? I have Obama supporting family in Houston, Austin,
San Antonio, McAllen and Sweetwater (rural West Texas). PM me if you need any advice.

I'm staying at the Antonian Inn and my pal from AZ says we'll be working downtown.

3. What if Obama still leads, but she cuts the lead by a substantial margin?

5. IF Hillary wins OH and TX
that will be one thing, but all indications are that she will not win TX and OH is up in the air. She's surely not going to win either state by the margin she needs, to get close in pledged delegates. I think, Obama may very well be in a position to sweep Mini-Tuesday, judging by the trajectory of the race and the history of past contests.

15. Well, I hope you're wrong - I think she will win OH by a sizable margin...TX is
looking tough.

22. Well, the latest polls certainly don't indicate that
at the most, he's 10 pts behind. He's outspending her hugely on TV ads. He has a strong ground game. It's hard to see her winning by more than 4 or 5 pts. Here's the thing: If she does pull out Ohio by a few pts and wins RI, while losing TX and and VT, she makes no gains on his delegate leave. She's essentially in the same place as she is today- 155 plus a few, back. And then comes MS and WY where she'll lose by big numbers. Her funding will dry up and the pressure on her to to drop out will grow. March 4 is her last chance. Hard to see her pulling it off.

7. Reminds me of "My Cousin Vinney" where the girlfriend tells the DA that the question
he is asking is a BS question since it wasn't possible. Same case here.

Obama is winning Texas on 3/4, both popular vote and delegates.
The only question is by how much.

18. Ah, come on now and join the dark side! You know you secretly want too!! LOL

Ya know, I would have supported Hillary but I believe that Obama will be a better president. I believe that Hillary would have made a fine president as well, but believe that if she was the Democratic nominee then the evil ones would win again and we'd, and the world, have to endure 4 more years of hell.

I'm also using "The Secret" as well!! :)

9. She'd have to show RESPECTABLE Margins of Victory in OH & TX for
the Obama supporters to not say this....however, from past wins by Hilary this is a very rare commodity and has actually only one by 20+% only once against him...most of her wins have been very tiny in margins....it is Obama that almost effortlessly wins by large margins...It's going to be tough, but for me, as an Obama suporter if hilary can win big in those two states then i would never say she should exit the race...she'd have my respect, and it is there that i'd realise i was still dreaming.

20. Unless she wins both by a 60/40 delegate split...
...which doesn't look very likely, it's still a loss because she can't make up any ground otherwise.

24. Nope. You're forgetting WY and MS
Winning the delegate count by 5% won't put her ahead even with FL and MI.

28. The best, and I mean absolute best you can hope for from the MI and FL delegates...
...is a 50/50 split. So, no gain there.

25. If she wins 65% of the delegates in them both then No, if she wins 52% of delegates then yes
Remember she needs 58% of all remaining delegates to catch him.

She needs 65% of the delegates in the states where she is favored.

Even a 55-45 split in her favor is a loss. It will increase the percentages she needs to win in the remaining contests to catch up.

IN fact, for the good of the country and the good of the party she should get out now, she should never have been in the race. A hillary nomination means a McCain presidency.

30. Of course they will. And they will accuse her of being a racist for NOT dropping out...
You see, anyone who runs opposite Obama is a racist. Obama has morphed into Al Sharpton. Drudge says an "unnamed Clinton source" gave them the Obama/Somali photo...Obama's people believe it and accuse Clinton of racism. Forget the fact that the photo had been on the internet for weeks prior to Drudge publishing it and forget that the photo was printed in the The National Examiner. It's utterly disgusting and if Obama wins the primary because of it, I hope the RW treats him the way he treated Hillary.

31. I said she should hang in until Mar 4th..but she needs to win by large margins to..
put a dent in his lead, and she has to stop the super delegates from jumping ship, or she's really done. Plus she needs to overtake his popular vote count..

I just don't see her winning by leaps and bounds in either place, but I could be wrong..only time will tell.

If she doesn't and his lead widens, then she should step down..because the next biggest primary isn't until April 22..in Pa..that's six weeks off from Mar 4th..long time.

35. No. If she has large victories in both states she should stay in.
On the other if she loses either state or both states are essentially a draw, she should gracefully exit.

36. She wont wint texas
and will get crushed in delegates there.

either candidate could squeak by ahead in ohio, most likely Hillary, but either way the margin will be less than 5 percent. so will probably be close to a draw when it comes to delegates.

she's done.
