WaPo: The Final Days? (Howard Kurtz)
<snip>

"There may be a few pundits out there who believe that Hillary Clinton clearly won Tuesday's debate, is headed toward victory in Ohio and Texas and has a really strong shot at the nomination.

But I haven't found them.

The media consensus (which, as we all know, is never wrong) is that Hillary fell short in Cleveland, doesn't have much hope of winning both primaries, and since her own husband said that's what she needs to do, this is her last gasp.

Maybe it's me, but do you detect a certain glee in parts of the media world? A sense that, finally, we can be done with the Clintons? Especially now that she's throwing the "Saturday Night Live" skit in our faces?

Maybe this is just what happens when campaigns are on the verge of losing. Frustration boils over and relations with reporters turn testy. But in the case of Hillary, possibly the most psychoanalyzed presidential candidate of all time, the process is on steroids."

9. Neither of the Cool Kids poll well against McCain; it's a shame we'll be stuck with one of them.
We had a candidate who polled very well against McCain (and
the rest ofthe Repubs) but we kicked him to the curb.

It's entirely likely that we'll all be getting used to
saying "President McCain".

2. I remember the New Hampshire shock of her winning--and it was attributed
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 09:59 AM by wienerdoggie
to sympathy that she was being picked on, and also a "not so fast" sentiment after the press started burying her prematurely after Iowa. I wonder if this same thing will happen in TX and OH, or if Democrats just want this nomination process over by now, and will decide on Obama?

5. A lot has happened since NH. NH was basically at the beginning
of the race. Only one state had voted (caucus). Now Barack has won more states, delegates, popular vote, etc and there is a feeling that he is the front runner. Hopefully, the state of Texas will fall in line with the rest of the country. I think his best shot is in Texas. I think Ohio is probably a long shot (despite the one poll showing him closing in).

6. I know--you're probably right, but I am soooo anxious for him to put
this nomination away--my worst nightmare is if Hillary wins one or both states, and this shit drags on and on...

11. Not gonna happen so relax . . .
but if she does stay in after losing one or both states (likely she will), I am prepared to sit out this election (I can't believe I'm saying this) if Obama picks her for VP. She's already done enough damage to our party. Enough is enough!

7. When even Kurtz recognizes the media bias
Something has to be going on. And it has been, for 15 years. It doesn't matter whom you support; media bias against both Clintons is a fact. It showed early in David Broder's "they trashed the place, and it's not their place." (emphasis mine). It showed in the NYT & WaPo's pushing the bogus Whitewater story, the virtual accusations of murder of Vince Foster, and the "All Monica All the Time" obsession.

I do support Hillary, but aside from that, I'd love to see her win OH & TX big just to slap down the smug, arrogant media.

10. It didn't help for Hillary to hang David Shuster out to dry. She had to
have known that the media would make her pay for that.

8. People, read this article
He enunciates basically what I am feeling at this stage...that Sen. Clinton's story has a somewhat tragic quality to it; she could have been so much more on the campaign trail but, for whatever reason, we never really saw it.
