So, obama would talk to foreign enemies but not to corporate lobbyists |
|
who hold the economic well-being of our nation in their grimey corporate hands? I don't get it.
First of all there are different kinds of lobbyists. Planned Parenthood is a lobbyist group, as are other social justice groups.
Secondly, the logic of being willing to sit done and talk to leaders of foreign countries to understand their interests and concerns in order to avoid future actions that might harm us but not being willing to sit down and listen to lobbyists and their interests and concerns as a means of avoiding corporate actions that might hurt our economic future escapes me.
Thirdly, Obama has taken almost as much money from lobbyists as the HC campaign.
Fourthly, how do you propose to even get the corporate lobbyists and CEOs to even want to sit down and try to discuss issues and resolve problems if you just do nothing but demonize them constantly? The military industrial complex is a host of lobbyists, yet they are very important to the national security whether we like them or not. Isn't it better to want to engage them and to speak from a position of strength to them about what is needed from them and what the government needs?
I swear, I just heard Obama in TX building a wall between his administration if he is elected and the very people we will need to work with to pull us out of this hole. And in reality, we cannot resolve the issues without them.
Also, Obama sounded a lot like he was using Clinton's line about being a President who will be working for the people 24/7.
I may be proud of this nation for many things and not proud of this nation for other things but right now I am afraid for this nation if we can't do better at choosing our leaders during this crucial time.

Sorry. They do not hold "Our" economic well-being in their hands. They hold their wealth and greed in their hands and nothing more.

...He talks of the lobbyists controlling washington not the ones just wanting a genuine charitable helping hand for society. He has spoken strongly for science research and community assistance. When Hillary is confusing the issue with research and chrity lobbyhing she is dong this intentional she will allow corporate control. You negotiate with your enemies not your friends. I've followed Hillary a lot since actually in all sincereity falling in love with the person ai read in her biography but as the years went by her decisions and choices discouraged me, justa little.

What a concept. Talking to our "enemies".
I much prefer the "billy club upside the head" approach. :sarcasm:

4. Personally I don't want lobbyists writing |
|
our laws anymore or financing the very people who have caused us so much grief in this county in the form of war, high gas prices, lack of health care, the drug prescription bill and on and on ad infinitum. It's time to remove them from the overall picture. There should be one concern in congress and that is to pass legislation that BENEFITS all citizens, the very people who have hired them, pay their salaries and foot the bill for their perks.

9. Reagan talked to Gorbachev, Carter met with Breznev, Nixon went to China..... |
|
...it's called LEADERSHIP.
No problems get solved by failing to meet with adversaries.
How has the sanctions against Cuba for 50 years helped? Are they no longer communist? Have things improved?
Obama is DEAD ON CORRECT in his approach...

11. yeah. It's awesome isn't it? I call that progress. |
|
(of course he will talk to lobbyists, hopefully just with stricter regulation and rules, and of course there will be preconditions and preparation before any dialog with a foreign leader would occur.)

16. You know, there are actual things... |
|
...you could comment on about Obama. Why make things up? He never said nobody should TALK to lobbbyists. He simply doesn't want politicians to be beholden to them for financing their campaigns (or private rides on the corporate jet, or golf trips to Ireland, or....). As for the "talk to our enemies" meme...asked an answered, about a thousand times on this site alone, and at least 6 or 7 by the candidate himself.
