Clinton tells staff to 'start thinking ahead' , why didn't anyone listen to her?
In her interview on "NewsHour" last night, HRC said: "Last spring when I looked at how the race was shaping up, I knew that it would be a close contest. ... I said, 'We've got to start thinking about Texas. You know, we've got to start thinking ahead.'"

Oh, maybe b/c of this:

So which is it? Did Clinton tell her staff to plan for Texas and they just ignored her? Or did Clinton think she'd have it 'in the bag' by Super Tuesday?

1. They must have thought about it, and dismissed it.

3. Also, on Meet the Press December 30th, she said "this will all be over
after super Tuesday." So what changed her mind from Spring to December about the race actually NOT being close, even though it was obvious it was tightening?

8. All around the same time period - so what happened between 'spring' of 2007
and Decmeber of 2007 that made the campaign decide it would all be over in Feb. '08?

4. It's a flat-out lie. She figured it would be over long before TX.

10. IF she told her staffers and they ignored her, could she lead this country?
It's a fair question. If she's not lying on NewsHour and really did tell them to think ahead, it doesn't say much for her leadership abilities if her staff ignored her.

And why didn't she notice after all this time, wasn't she paying attention to the inner workings of her own campaign? She said she told them this months ago, after all.

13. Right, if those closest to her ignore her - what will foreign leaders do?
What will Congress do?

Or....is she not telling America the truth (which is a whole problem in and of itself)?

12. Plan A was to have it sewn up before super tuesday
there was apparently no plan B.

that's what paying other people 30 million dollars to think for you does for your campaign strategy.

21. Why would you surround yourself with people who didn't take you at your word?
If - in the spring of 2007 - her campaign staff pooh-poohed getting organized in Texas, they should have been replaced with staff that worked WITH the candiate. Unless, of course she didn't say anything about Texas to her campaign staff :eyes:

24. Indeed. The notion that her staff would blow that off is absurd!
They built their entire gameplan around it being over on Super Tuesday, and never had a plan beyond that. Which is why they were unprepared in the 11 contests which followed it.

Well, on March 4 she may discover that she got them to start 'thinking ahead' a tad late.
