I have TWO words for people NOT voting for the Dem. nominee... |
|
SUPREME. COURT. Please think about it LONG and HARD... Yes, Obama has his flaws. Yes, Clinton has her flaws. Are either one going to replace any "retiring" justice with a right winger?
Another good TWO words for you thinking about NOT supporting the nominee...
BIG. PICTURE.

5. Well, my post was an appeal to progressive ideals. Did I somewhere |
|
express that you CANNOT vote for your choice? I was simply pleading for us all to look at the big picture... Why is everything a confrontation on here...

3. The people who say that aren't to be taken seriously. |
|
It's just primary-season hyperbole. Most don't even believe it when they say it. The small number of people who actually believe it will come to their senses once the primary is over.

8. I certainly hope that is truly the case. |

I just don't seem to recall THIS MUCH venom being flung around in '04 (I could be wrong?). Then again, it wasn't this hotly contested either...

I did a poll here a few weeks ago and very few DUers did not vote for Kerry in 2004, so that is encouraging.

11. The nominee needs to be seen as Legitimate, if not it will damage our party, that is my Big Picture |
|
I will support either one and vote for either one as long as no rules are broken and the will of the people is not overturned by "fat cats", some of which are not even elected officials.
I would rather deal with 4 years of McCain than a decade of a weakened party that is only now recovering from damage it suffered a decade ago.

14. what make you think Obama or Clinton would nominate justices differently than McCain? |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 10:02 PM by provis99
If McCain were President, he would be pressured to put forth moderate justice nominees by the Democratic Senate, whereas if Obama or Clinton were President, they would put forth moderate nominees so as not to appear to liberal. In any of the cases, we wind up with moderate justices.

17. That's assuming we GAIN Senate seats this November. |
|
With our SLIM "majority" (Lieberman?!), and with the several conservative Senators we have (Nebraska?), I think McCain could get away with a LOT worse, no?

19. Yup. And thery can't ask a nominees position on "choice" or anything they might decide on. |
|
Both sides aim to find a candidate with no paper trail that they can slide through. It is always a crap shoot.
