Obama And Me
http://www.dallasobserver.com/2008-02-28/news/obama-and-me/

Interesting article written by a reporter who was just starting in his career at the same time Obama was starting his career as an Illinois state senator. He covered Obama's district for a couple of small Chicago community papers, the Hyde Park Herald and Lakefront Outlook. Here's a brief excerpt:

It was 2000, and I was a young reporter at the Hyde Park Herald and Lakefront Outlook community newspapers earning $19,000 a year covering politics and crime.

I talked with Obama on a regular basis — a couple times a month, at least. I'd ask him about his campaign finance reports, legislation he was sponsoring and various local issues. He wrote an occasional column published in our papers. It ran with a headshot that made him look about 14 years old.

Spinning through my old Rolodex, I see that I had two cell phone numbers for Obama. Both have since been disconnected.

I also had cell phone numbers for Jesse Jackson; his son, Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.; and David Axelrod, who now serves as Obama's senior presidential campaign advisor.

You can read the whole thing at the link. I found it very interesting.

2. I tend to agree
A lot of it sounded like sour grapes, but by the same token, where there's smoke, there's fire. You can't get to the position of US Presidential candidate without stepping on a few toes. I found this article to be an interesting look into the rise of Obama. How much is true and how much is sour grapes is left up to the reader to decide.

4. i found it quite telling about the Candidate purge ..nice guy that Obama
he screws those who helped him..

and i for one am very concerned since a similar situation took place here in Fla by repiglicans...and a group of lawyers and ganging up....it is amazing to me today, that dems can look the other way at the same kind of behaviour...totally amazing..

I guess this is all anyone could dig up. If this is all they have, and it seems as though there were some MAJOR jealousy issues going on the in the Illnois State Legislature (that damn young upstart)it is a pretty lame smear campaign. I mean this guy even made a point of noting that Obama smoked. I dont blame him for being ticked because someone said he "jive talked" and that he was Ivy League bred when he clearly was not. He may have went to Harvard, but he certainly wasn't raised in an Ivy League manner.

If someone wrote about me on a bad day at the law firm or when I was frustrated with circumstances, etc., it wouldn't have been pretty either.

This is a nothing piece meant to trash the man right before the primary.
