"Shame on you" : Verdict from the polls
It has now been 6 days since HRC took the stage and abruptly changed the tone of her campaign with a strident "shame on you Barack" harangue that was put by many media in close juxtaposition to the "I am proud to be here with you" sentiment of the debate in Texas just days before.

Here we can see the general reaction in the polls to the campaign and whether or not it was a helpful gambit:

1. No one should have needed polls to tell them how massively stupid her stunt was.
I've never run a national campaign, but from my limited campaign experience I was still staring at the screen when she came out to do this with my jaw on the floor, thanking god I wasn't in charge of trying to "spin" that nightmare into something positive for her team.

2. I think it will go down almost as a 'maccaca' moment
It would strike many males as the kind of tone your mother used with you when she found out what you did on Halloween.

I think the campaign ended at that point

16. I think the worst moment was when she made reference to the SNL skit
using parody to speak to some perceived reality in her head. THAT was painful!

23. The list of embarassing blunders is so long for this campaign.
How do you chose THE worst?

Me-I think is was hiring Mark Penn and Howard Wolfson.

24. Just think how she would have run a general campaign against McCain this fall.
It would have been a freaking nightmare.

3. Rasmussen now has Ohio - Clintno 47 Obama 45
In Ohio, Hillary Clinton has maintained a constant level of support over the past week, but Barack Obama is rapidly gaining ground in her rear view mirror.

The latest Rasmussen Reports poll, conducted Thursday night, shows Clinton earning 47% of the Ohio Democratic Presidential Primary vote. That’s little changed from the 48% level of support the former First Lady received last Monday night and in the previous poll conducted last week.

7. You are right there is some differences in the polls but they are all getting tighter

Is that the fox poll? (They have been very good so far this year)

The significance of the Rasmussen Poll is that they have been doing a daily poll so that even if they are not accurate it shows the movement (as its the same pollster using the same methodology)

quote
However, while Clinton’s support has remained stable, Barack Obama has been steadily inching up in the poll. Obama now earns support from 45% of Ohio’s Likely Primary Voters. That’s up from 43% last Sunday, 40% last week and 38% the week before.

Other polls are here. Zogby is also showing 2 points

In any case even if Hillary wins by 8 points it will still mean that the delegate count will not be seriously effected because delegates are divided proportionally not by state but by Congressional Districts and you need atleast 65% to get really favorable delegate break (i.e. 4-2 in a 6 delegate district).

I know it can be very difficult when your delegate isn't winning.

8. Also factor in the enthusiasm level on both sides.
That's what gets people to the polls no matter what the weather.

it before hand - also a tape of them practicing it - "No Hillary you have to say it louder louder we need more cow bell"

Can't wait until everybody writes their book about the campaign and then we get to see them take each other apart in detail

10. In my opinion, she will continue her typical style of politices...
just to hurt Obamas chances in the GE or to make it a closer GE so if McCain and the thugs steal it, the American public wont catch on...like bush did before. I think Clinton was the elites first choice because she has a D in front of her name and they think thats enough to calm the American people as they continue their ways...yay we have a D, everything will be ok.

My guess is that McCain is their second choice and they will do whatever is necessary to...take care of Obama. Ive already seen mention of an Obama president needing more security because racists would make an attempt on his life and that just makes me think of JFK. Its bad enough during the campaign they had that incident where the secret service had the Dallas police stop using metal detectors and searching bags for weapons because they wanted to speed up the line and felt the line looked like peaceful people????What the fuck!

If somehow Obama were to win it all, they will either take him out, scare him or his family ( anthrax ) or make sure that they do everything possible to make our lives worse during his 4 years so that Clinton could then become their number one again. I can see the system allowing/arranging another false flag incident like they did before so they can blame Obama for it all. Now, I know that the American people have been speaking with their votes but I still fear that the corruption will give it to Clinton or worse...McCain.

Again, just my opinion.

11. Hillary needs to change her name to ...
ME! ME! ME!

We have never had a presidential candidate the past 40 years who was so thoroughly only in it for herself. It's all about Hillary. She's gone from sad to pathetic.

14. Even if Obama wins Texas, Hillary will carry the fight to Denver
She will challenge in court the Texas delegates rules, and she will ask to have FL and Mi seated. If you thought Bush v. Gore was bad, wait until you see Clinton v. Dean.

29. People always assume that any poll jump is due to some statement by a candidate
That trend is a long-term trend, and as you can see, Obama has continued to go up. Are you saying that the trend continued just because Hillary made the "shame on you" statements? Voters don't care. Cause and effect is not as simple as you think.
