Poll question: Do y'all eat Popeye's chicken for breakfast?
Obama's only blunder this week, IMO.

:spank:

Of course, I need to see the full video in context to be sure.

"Y'all have Popeyes out in Beaumont? I know some of y'all you got that cold Popeyes out for breakfast. I know. That's why y'all laughing. ... You can't do that. Children have to have proper nutrition. That affects also how they study, how they learn in school."

2. Blunder? If he'd added cold pizza it would have been awesome...
Edited on Fri Feb-29-08 06:58 PM by tokenlib
He was right on target.. Sounded "in touch" and very responsive...connecting with his audience. Barack and the audience were feeding off one another..he was on a roll.

9. cold pizza, guilty
I don't think I've ever done cold chicken for breakfast though. And I have to say, between pizza and a pop tart, I think pizza would be the better choice.

15. True... the mention of Popeye's
came across to me as patronizing. However, you're right-- if he broadened it up to include pizza, etc. then he has a good point.

27. I actually don't think cold pizza is a terrible choice, depends what kind and what's on it
I can't usually stomach regular breakfast foods like eggs or pancakes at any time of the day. Cold pizza if it's made with real ingredients and has some veggies on it in particular wouldn't be too bad.

Even if it's crappy delivery Pizza, Popeyes Chicken still has got to be some of the most unhealthy food there is.

not like he was seriously trying to give his entire speech in that accent like Hillary tries to do with her "Ya'll let's get up" shtick.

32. I think it would be a disaster if any other candidate tried it
HRC
Romney
McCain
Thompson

Its not sexist if most politicians are lousy in delivering funny lines. Actually Huckabee was pretty good - especially for his demographic.

10. He was having fun and talking with the audience, getting kind of carried away
which can be easy in that sort of atmosphere but what he said was 100% true and the audience most likely listened and learned from what he had to say.

YOU SHOULD NOT EAT FAST FOOD FOR BREAKFAST!!! Especially when you where eating it all during the previous day. Real nutrition and healthcare starts at home. JFK would have said that.

Obama made it more local and personal for the crowd and they loved it. He felt very comfortable and was not "faking" it like Tucker said. I do not like when he gets that faux drawl either but this time he was just having fun while delivering an important message. We all do it, well that is if you are a good communicator.

11. My co-worker from the Bronx loves it when Obama talks about "Cousin Pookie"
Every once in a while, she will tell me "See...that's how I know he really is black." (She's black by the way; I'm not).

He knows what he's doing on the campaign trail, that fella.

28. If there was a Popeye's within 100 miles of us, yes, we would.
But the nearest Popeye's is up in a rest area on
the Maine Turnpike and the next nearest may be
Troy, NY.

35. I have.
I've had the leftover stuff for breakfast on numerous occasions. In addition, in terminal C of IAH there's a Popeye's that serves up a chicken biscuit for breakfast.

I don't feel a damned bit guilty about it, either.
