A Tale of Two Edwards Supporters - Is this a common tale?
http://www.eenrblog.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=112

In a striking post at Democratic Underground, FlyingSquirrel speaks up as an Obama supporter for a friend who chose Clinton after Edwards withdrew from the race. Both were Edwards supporters, but had their paths split afterwards.

A Tale Of Two Edwards Supporters
One moved into Obama's camp; the other into Clinton's. Prior to this they had both been happy as clams (well, they would've been happier if Edwards had been winning). You'd think the one who moved to Obama would be happy still -- perhaps even happier since his preferred candidate seemed to be winning quite handily -- and he was happy enough for awhile, till he realized what had happened to one of his favorite Edwards compatriots. She had become more and more unhappy and alienated here on DU as the weeks went past after Edwards dropped out. Most didn't see the full extent of her unhappiness because she didn't let that out as much in public forums. But it was there. And she was not alone.

Since John Edwards withdrew, the online community, in large part, has moved to support Barack Obama. It has been obvious to anyone who visits the Democratic Underground or Daily Kos. However, a number of Edwards supporters preferred Hillary Clinton to Obama. These Edwards supporters went from being in the majority in their support on the progressive blogs to being outcasts.

I think my post had more of a point to it than yours did. Kind of ironic.

14. Me Three!
In all honesty, however, I wasn't really into Edwards that much. I was hoping for Clark to get in. I've gotten into Hillary a lot more recently.

7. I am a former Edwards supporter
and tend to lean Obama. But he is a distant seconds to Edwards, and Hillary isn't all that far behind him.

Mostly I like Bacon, Beer, and Strawberry dump cake.

23. Here is what happened to me.
I went years and years with no one on ignore.

This year though, it was so venomous from the Hillary camp with some anti-edwards posts that I put a lot of them on Ignore.

When Edwards dropped out, I decided to stay neutral since Florida had already dropped out and although I favored Obama over Hillary at the time, I was seeing by far mostly anti-Hillary threads. Many of them had varying levels of untruths or unfairness about them so I started responding to attacks I felt were unfair.

It took me a while to realize that the imbalance might have been because of all the Anti-Edwards posters being on Ignore at the time.

Anyway, I really don't care which one wins, as long as one of them does. Currently I consider my support for Hillary a constant, and far more positives and more negatives for Obama. He rarely surpasses Clinton in my book, and *always* drops way behind because someone throws out the racist label if you notice he uses a lot of hand gestures or something like that.

Then he catches up, and more racist labels are thrown out... over and over and over and over.

I try to be objective, but it is hard in this environment.

This primary takes on a unique suckatude for those of us that wanted Gore or Clark, then backed Edwards passionately, then were forced to choose and chose Hillary due to serious issues with Obama.

I wrote about this before on DU, and referred to Primary 2008 as a fucking pile of bullshit, I do believe.

wanted Gore or Clark, then Edwards, then to Clinton.

Glad to see you posting.

13. It's been one hell of a roller coaster ride, hasn't it?
:pals:

I decided that it's important for her supporters to speak out now, more than ever. It's still hurtful and marginalizing here, though.

18. I'm a former Edward's supporter
I went to Obama sort as a default but the more I have seen and heard of him since Edwards dropped out the more I like him. Instead of just being lukewarm for him like I was the first week or so I've become very very committed and enthusiastic. :-)

21. I'm a John Edwards Democrat left with no one to support.
No one can be compared to the passion of John Edwards. He is very dedicated to this cause he's be fighting for. No one on that stage can claim that.

The minute he left the race, he took all the excitement this race had with him. I am, however, extremely proud to be a John Edwards supporter and I take it upon myself to fight to get the message out there just as he has fought for us.

A central theme of John Edwards' campaign is that Tomorrow Begins Today, with each of us. All of us John Edwards Democrats can't wait until tomorrow. It must begin today, now.

It may be about the Presidential race, but there's the House of Representatives and the Senate. There's state and local government. It doesn't begin and end with the Presidency. The next President will have to work with the Congress. The next Governor of a state will have to work with the state legislator.

We need an "Edwards Dozen", in the same fashion of the "Dean Dozen".

So while I may have neglected the Presidential race, I haven't taken my eye off the battles behind the M$M cameras.

25. that's what I did
threw myself into campaigning for a progressive in a local congressional race.

Neither Obama nor Clinton can stir me. I tried with both. It just isn't there. I just concluded, well, one will win and I'll vote for him/her. But not because I want to.
