Holy Moly: Tarrant County Friday, approximately 2,100 votes were being cast per hour
Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 02:45 AM by MagickMuffin
As of Wednesday, about 805,000 people had voted in the state's 15 biggest counties, according to the Texas Secretary of State's Office Web site. More than 600,000 of those voters voted in the Democratic primary.

The numbers far outpace the early turnout in primaries in recent years. In 2000, about 315,000 voters cast early primary ballots in the 15 largest counties. Less than 300,000 cast early ballots in the 2002 and 2004 primaries.

In Tarrant County Friday, approximately 2,100 votes were being cast per hour, according to Tarrant County Elections Administrator Steve Raborn. In contrast, about 3,300 people voted in the county on the entire last day of early voting in 2004.

The unusually high turnout in the Democratic primary in a largely "red" state has not been lost on Republican Party members. Many of them have expressed concern that the kind of excitement Democratic voters are experiencing could increase that party's turnout in November.

YeeHaw: For a local girl this is huge! So, to celebrate the news, here's a Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys oldie.

Big Balls in Cowtown

Aagghh! Let the ladies split out wide
Grab your pardner - go hog wild. Aagghh! Now, now, now;

CHORUS
Big Ball's in Cowtown
We'll all go down
Big Ball's in Cowtown
We'll dance a- round.

Workin' on the railroad
Sleepin' on the ground
Eatin' saltine crackers
Ten cents a pound.

CHORUS

Put on your new shoes
Put on your gown
Take off them sack clothes
The Big Ball's in town.

CHORUS

I'll stay in cowtown
I'll stick around
Bolt up your window
The Big Ball's in town.

1. It's pretty clear that early voting will play a big role in the result of TX's primary
Much like California.

3. No, early voting there was absentee early
Before Obama had even won Iowa. There won't be the kind of disparity between early voters and Tuesday voters, at least not as big of one.

10. Are you asking which candidate benefits?
I guess we won't know for sure until Tuesday.

At the rally when Barack asked how many people had already voted I would guess 90% of the hands went up in the air along with hoots and cheers.

Barack got his game on, and he's Ready and Fired Up to do the Texas Two Step.
