Obama Supporters: I'm heading out to my Leadership Training session in Philly...
This training is for people who want to take a leadership role in organizing their neighborhood's GOTV efforts.

If you all want to see why Obama will WIN Pennsylvania, check out the event page and see how many people signed up to organize their neighborhoods.

15. We don't. That's why 2000 people showed up today across PA to organize for Obama.
We take this VERY seriously.

10. UPDATE: It was a BIG day for Obama in Pennsylvania!
Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 07:20 PM by Kristi1696
Here are the numbers I heard on attendance at Obama's Leadership Training meetings in PA.

Philadelphia-approximately 350 people (my estimate)
Pittsburgh-400 people
Surrounding suburbs and Harrisburg-approximately 100 people, each.

So all told, the campaign estimated that around 2000 people came out today in PA to organize for Obama :wow:

Our meeting began at 9:15 this morning. It was a packed house. People sitting on tables, floors, chairs they brought from home. The crowd was fired up. The staffers on hand introduced themselves and described why they had joined the campaign. Most mentioned Obama's commitment to grassroots organization and citizen-centric approach to politics. These staffers had been in South Carolina and Maryland/Virginia previously and it was really interesting to hear their perspectives and learn just how grassroots this campaign really is.

We then divided into groups representing various parts of the city. There we brainstormed GOTV efforts in our area and decided which leadership roles each of us would assume. I'll be working with a great group of folks.

A couple of local restaurants were kind enough to donate some great lunches, enough for everyone in attendance.

We were also treated to a surprise appearance by Chaka Fattah (my congressman) and a couple of city councilmen who gave some really moving speeches about why they are passionately supporting Barack.

Then it was off to another meeting across the city for an organizational meeting regarding my neighborhood. I have an office 4 blocks away from me! There I met the folks that I will be spending a lot of time with in the coming weeks. Once again, a packed house. We actually had to rearrange the furniture just to accommodate people. The guys that are running the effort in my neighborhood are seasoned grassroots organizers who have successfully delivered the area in many an election. We are in good hands.

Finally, at the end of the day, we got out for a little voter registration. Not much luck there, considering 90% of people I spoke to were already registered Democrats voting for Barack. But hey, I'll take it!

So that was my day. Looks like we're all organized, fired up and READY TO GO! :woohoo:

Tomorrow is another full day, lol. :)

20. Great news!
Awesome to hear the report from my old stomping ground, and great to hear that rep. fattah was there as well! I think philly will turn out heavily for obama(if the race is still going on), and your efforts will be very helpful in that regard. Btw do you know if Street as endorsed anyone yet?(i know nutter has come out for hillary already...ugh)

21. Street.
Is a delegate for Hillary. A funny fact; he was one of Hillary's delegates that barely got his signatures filled. He only narrowly succeeded after Rendell extended the deadline an extra day!

13. Oddly enough, no Kool-Aid at today's events.
Just hundreds of people, congressmen, and news cameras.

Crazy, huh?
