Day after day, Hillary dominates the news cycle-on SNL tonight-as Obama crashes in the polls
Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 09:52 PM by Tropics_Dude83
Last Saturday, it was the "Shame on you" moment, on Sunday it was the celestial choir moment, on Friday, it was the Red phone nuclear ad, now she will be on Saturday Night Live tonight to critical acclaim I'm sure (so she's already won tommorrow's news cycle), Monday Rezco trial starts and the Mondays before big primaries are always bad days for Obama.

WTF is going on? Obama is letting Hillary DOMINATE the news cycle. Can you all remember the last day that he won? Now, she is surging in TX, surging in OH (51-44 in ARG now was 50-45) and 47-47 now in TX, was 51-44 Obama?

Obama just sits back and let's Hillary keep hitting home run after home run day after day. It's time that he does SOMETHING.

He's got to at least try.

All indications are from Rasmussen to Belo to ARG to Zogby that HRC has the big momentum and is probably poised for 3/4 victories on 3/4.

And Obama supporters, you're kidding yourself if you think that Hillary winning 3/4 is going to be anything other than a monumental story. The media will say that she has comeback from the dead twice now. She will be adulated. Obama's campaign will be reeling on 3/5. I know the delegate math is bad but she could use OH, TX, RI wins to propel her to wins in PA, NC, and IN and then everything changes.

Wake up Obama. Your opponent is engaged in a massive surge. Do something!!

42. And you'd be surprised how many Dems think Huckabee is just a dandy fella.
Huckster didn't want Wayne DuMond to suffer needlessly in prison for raping a young girl who was related to Bill Clinton. He let Clinton hatred overtake his common sense and arm-twisted the Parole Board, so Wayne DuMond was set free, to rape and kill.

Yeah, you want to like the guy, it's just impossible when you think of the filth that poisons his brain. He's petty, he's vindictive, and he's a creep.

9. Obama SURGING in Ohio and RI, WAY ahead in VT, and TIED
in TX. Yes, she has been getting the better end of the corporate media press lately. Well, that's the biased shitty corporate media for you.
But relax. The Obama team is very good, and remember she has had a HUGE machine, demographics, and 15-30 point advantages in TX, OH, and RI up until just a few weeks ago. Now it's ALL too close to call. No matter what, it's going to be very close. The Obama people are working hard in ALL 4 states. Just keep your pants on, and get out there and do some work for Obama. Do homebased phone banking using the Obama website. Make a donation.
Go knock on doors if you live in or close to one of these four states. There are MANY things you can do if you are so concerned. SO DO THEM.
PUT YOUR ENERGY INTO ACTION !!

13. You are reading too much into random flunctuations by unreliable pollsters
At least wait until the latest Rasmussen or Survey USA polls comes out from Texas and Ohio before you freak out. They have been consistently reliable.

The reality is, Obama's polling numbers haven't collapsed. This supposed "collapse" (from unreliable pollsters I might add) is all within the margin of error.

Wait until Monday or Tuesday before jumping off a bridge, please...

And what are you referring to regarding Zogby tonight? Does he have new results coming out? When?

And don't go into panic mode until the more reliable pollsters like SurveyUSA show that Hillary is leading the race.

17. She dominating the news because the "news" loves having a horserace.
If Obama shuts her down, the party's over for them and they are relegated to covering the Obama - McCain matchup; which promises to be just south of watching paint dry on the entertainment scale.

I don't think they are going to get it done though. People are amped up and ready to rock. I don't think the media is quite the force they've been over the past few years. I still have hope that Obama will win out.

including Zogby and Mason-Dixon and Rasmussen which show Obama gaining in Ohio. Besides she had double digit leads in both states just two weeks ago.

31. Going from a 51-44 TX lead to being at tied at 47% is not good
This is per ARG; but, I've calmed down a bit. Even if Hillary does win OH, TX, and RI, Obama will win Wyoming and MS days later and PA will be Iowa II.

It'd be nice for this to end though so the focus can be on defeating Mccain.

It's a bit disturbing that consistently OB has not been able to close the deal. Couldn't in NH, can't now.

34. The poll's change is still within the margin of error
And it is still subject to erratic day to day samples that may not be consistent with what is happening on the ground. As I said, what a few days to see if this is a pattern instead of a random flunctation which is what it looks like right now.

50. I think I need to "host" a multi thread class on understanding polls and statistics.
Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 03:26 AM by Political Heretic
If a change is within the margin of error, its not super reliable information.

Honestly a really, really, simple "street" way to think about polls is KO's way:

For any poll between Obama and Hillary:

1. take the % undecideds
2. ADD the margin of error
3. SUBTRACT any "Other" candidates

And then apply that number -- if Clinton and Obama are tied at 47 but the "Keith" number is 11% basically no one knows shit. It could be Obama 58% or Clinton 58% or anything in between.

Also remember that as much as we want to watch polls (and I do too) polls are only really helpful with the distance between the two candidates is larger than any margin of error + undecideds.

Finally - the best possible "poll" you can possibly find is AVERAGED TREND DATA!!!

That would be an average of the scores of multiple polls tracked every day, or at least as often as possible.

Something like this:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/latest_results_from_rasmussen_markets

http://www.intrade.com

These things are a better predictor than polls. Basically.... Obama has an 86% chance of getting the nomination, and Hillary has a 14% chance.

Ohio is a "dead heat", with Hillary having a 53% chance of winning to Obama's 47%. In Texas, Obama has a 75% chance of winning.

Nothing that happened today moved the numbers at all.....

Relax.
