21. I Liked Nearly All Our Candidates

but I live in a state with a late enough primary where I must choose a front runner -- Obama has run the kind of campaign I thought Clinton would, and has displayed the virtues I expected to see from her at the start of this race.

I support this thread against the day when an insider memoir explains why Clinton's campaign has positioned her as it has, why it has been managed as it has been, and why it did not choose to take the higher road in the face of challenges and setbacks. I had expected Clinton to run a tight ship: why the budget overruns? Why the last-minute procedural challenges in NV and TX? Why the unfortunate remarks and emails (however misconstrued) by staffers and campaigning stand-ins? Why the inconsistent image management of the candidate, herself? Why the patterns of aggressive, scripted calls to several progressive radio talk shows, for weeks on end?

This is just baffling compared with how Clinton wanted to present herself before this race started. Given her image of competence, why has she not reigned in any of these trends within her own organization?

(And why the voting irregularities in the states where she's come out on top? (Forgive me, but after two elections with Brush that always makes me nervous ... even if it is truly a coincidence and only a sign of how the larger system is broken.))

Did Clinton pick an old-fashioned campaign style (marred by episodes of mismanagement) or was it a good model used in an extraordinarily unusual year? What can other, future Democratic candidates learn from the patterns in her campaign and the shifting demographics of her supporters?
