The number one complaint against Hillary has been her IWV
Yet, amazingly, with the one exception of Dennis K, ALL of the male presidential candidates, who were able to vote, voted same as Hillary: Edwards, Biden and Dodd. Even Kerry during 2004 voted for same bill. Obama’s vote, of course, does not count because he was not allowed to vote.
So, Gloria Steinam has recently pointed out that there is an obvious double standard. None of the men were ever viciously attacked like Hillary for this. Certainly not Edwards or even Kerry.
Secondly, as Hillary has repeatedly explained, CONGRESS NEVER EVEN AUTHORIZED THE IRAQ WAR! Congress only voted to give Bush authority to use force against Saddan Hussien, using more inspections and diplomacy, never to start a war against Iraq. Bush simply misused power just like he has always done since then.
Thirdly, as we all know, Congress was repeatedly lied to many times by Bush Adm. for reasons to vote for the bill: That there were WMD, that Saddan H. was involved with 9/11 and so on. So if that’s the major complaint against Hillary, it is indeed incredibly weak.

1. Everyone who voted for the IWR |
|
and is or was a candidate has been severely criticized for it here on DU. It is not gender based. As the surviving IWR voter who is a candidate, it's on Clinton's plate. She put it there herself. She is accountable for her actions in public office. That's it.

3. Gloria's full of shit. sorry. |
|
and she has a selective memory. in any case, the war was at a different stage four years ago, for all those who ever so conveniently don't remember. but I do remember the battles about Kerry's IWR vote- both here at DU and elsewhere. And JE apologized fulsomely. It meant jackshit to me. I don't see an apology as mitigating that terrible decision. I've long said I will NOT vote for any candidate in the primary who voted for the IWR. I'm hardly the only person that feels that way. This has nothing to do with gender. And Steinem knows it.
