Networks call a GE before the West coast has voted, when the math is in |
|
One of the most infuriating (for me) practices common to network news organizations is "doing the math" on Electoral College votes and projecting a winner before all voters nationwide have had a say. I am in the Mountain West, and I can only imagine how this makes Alaskans and Hawaiians feel. Unfortunately, however, we are at that same point in this primary. Barring a sudden meltdown of epic proportions, the math says Obama will have the most pledged delegates, and that is, or should be, the ballgame.
If Democrats must witness another seven weeks of the destructiveness between these two camps before the next firewall—goalpost primary, followed by an excruciating three months plus until Denver, McCain and the repubs will be chuckling with glee at the convention circus sure to follow.
Without blowout wins in both Texas and Ohio, it will be time for the 3:00am call to Hillary by Dean or Gore. I'm sure she is fully capable of handling it.
