Why is Bush advertising in NY??
Last night I saw 2 Bush Ads during an hour long program. Nauseating. Does he really think he has a chance in hell of winning NY or does he just have too much campaign money to burn?

1. Uh,
If Bush comes close in New York, he'll be so far ahead in enough other states it really won't matter.

One thing he's been doing is to buy airtime nationally on cable networks. I live in the most heavily Democratic media market in the country, and I've seen Bush ads so I think that's what's happening.

Could that have been what you were watching?

Are you in upstate? If so, could you have been watching a Pennsylvania or New Hampshire channel?

6. I live on Long Island and
was watching "Trading Spaces-Home Free" on The Learning Channel. Is that a cable network?

9. Yes it is
Bush is probably buying time on the Learning Channel nationally. Unless Karl Rove is a complete idiot.

34. That explains plenty.
LI and Upstate are where all the Republicans live. This is an "energize the base" drive.

2. Did you ever see the movie "Brewster's Millions"?

Richard Pryor is on a quest to spend $30 million. He runs for NY mayor, but buys ads nationally so that New Yorkers who are on vacation will see them. Maybe the Bush campaign is trying to reach voters who are vacationing in New York.

3. LOL
Maybe that's what Neil Bush has been up to in Bangkok, buying up airtime to win the votes of American sex tourists.

4. You sould see the ads in New Hampshire
Between 5:00 & 11:00 PM, watching tv is an exercise in not puking every 15 minutes. He has non-stop ads. Yes, obviously money is no issue for the shrub. I think the same thing, "Why New Hampshire?" Could he possibly be listening to the way it actually played
out last time around. If Gore had won NH, he'd be President today. Why NH.......!

8. I can understand NH more than NY
If Bush won NH last time he'd want to keep it. But NY will never happen for Bush. Boy, I hope I don't have to eat my words.

5. Spent the weekend in NYC
on business and stayed at the Hilton. They have Fox News constantly on in the elevators (TVs aon the walls) ...never saw this before. I heard more people complaining that the hotel was running a Bush campaign in the elevators. Talk about a captive audience... nauseating...

11. That would be great
You know how Bush can really stick it to the Kerrys? He can advertise heavily in Idaho and Massachusetts. Pour millions into those two states. Maybe tens of millions. I encourage him to do so.

You've got excellent congressional representation. But your Junior Senator wants to be President. And if Bush keeps spending money in Massachusetts, he'll help that happen.

18. It's classic "strategery." When your opponent has much less money,
you make him spend all his money defending states which are generally believed to be "locks" for him, so that he can't spend his money trying to pick up the "swing states."

With something like $150 million stored up already, and more to come, the Bush campaign could afford to run ads in every single state. Of course, they won't. Why bother running ads in the flyover states, after all, which are pretty much guaranteed to be Bush states in November? So instead, Bush's campaign is focusing on the Gore states and the swing states.

It's an attempt to keep Kerry off balance, and hardly surprising. Let's just hope that Kerry can overcome it.

You're lucky if you only see Bush ads once in a while. I see them all day, every day here in Florida.

25. That's not too bad...
Last night, I counted 3 Bush ads, 1 Kerry ad, and an anti-Bush ad about overseas jobs during a 1 1/2 hour period. I don't mind the Kerry ones, but Kerry's face looks orange in the newest one. Maybe it's just my TV.

The amount of money he has is insane.

I don't think he could win here, unless Kerry says he would outlaw hula dancing, or some other unimaginable thing.
