I'm going to shift into Congressional mode.

Hi DUers, my name is Roger. I've lived in NJ since the early 90's. I dont think too many second chances come around in life and four year ago I got one, & I haven't looked back since. Four years ago I had one of those moments, that could be an epiphany right ? Anyway, long story short, I went down to Broward county Florida for Kerry Edwards in '04. The guy that recruited me, the day after the last day I saw him in '04, I remembered he was the same guy I met at a Bill Clinton fundraising dinner, who had asked me in '92, did I ever consider working in politics ?
Way ? Yes way. Fast forward to '08.

I was on the AL Gore bandwagon bigtime, but then I switched to Edwards.... till he dropped out... suspended . . . his campaign I mean, I had already bought an Obama button. The largest and best field that the democratic party has fielded in years has been whittled down to 2. It has been a Race Royale. In NJ I know this guy, Tom Wyka, who is running for Congress in NJ-11 against the safest republican in NJ, Rodney Frelinghuysen. This is Tom's second run against Rondney. I've organized a $50 dollar plate dinner for Tom at the end of March and I'm trying to put together a bigger dinner for later in the spring.

I am shifting into Congressional mode.

I'm thinking we need to run hard in the House and the Senate to hopefully get on the coat tails of our Presidential nominee, as we kick McCain in the as....to the curb.
Like Barry Gold water lost in '64 .

Some think it was over a while ago, some think not yet. Regardless it'll soon be time to think towards November. We have an opportunity to move this country forward, the opportunity to complete the work that was started in '06.

We need a huge majority in both houses as well as taking the White House, to get anything done. We've had 27 years of regressive taxes, corporatist economic policies, culminating in the incredible damage thats been done to our country. Democrats have an excellent chance of really padding the majority in the House and working towards 60 seats in the Senate. THis is a huge oppurtunity.

I've shifting into Congressional mode.

It should be clear by Tuesday who our nominee is, & lets not forget there is going to be a loser. Many of us may feel a loss of sorts, maybe like losing a friend or relative. There may be a time of grieving. And everyone else should respect that.

PPS., My canvass teams will be canvassing 8 towns for the Democratic Nominee and Tom Wyka in NJ-11 as we wind it down to November. Join me this summer and fall, lets knock on a lot of doors and make all those phone calls and flush out every single vote that we can. We need to get a grip on our government.

2. I agree 100%
We have great chances in the Senate (below is an old post) I live in a red district (Cunningham of prison fame) and we have a candidate that looks good. During this summer I plan on working on voter registration in good demographic areas to increase our chances..

Tsunami in the Senate

Next year will be the election for the 2nd Class of Senators and it brings forth a perfect storm for Democrats.

Of the 33 Senators up for election 21 are Republicans and 12 are Democrats.
http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/reference...

Of the democrats all but one is in a seat that is considered either very strong or strong and should run with little or no opposition and that is Landrieu in LA.

Of the republicans 9 seats are considered contestable. This does not include wild card seats like Craig ID, or Trent MS in which the republicans will have no incumbent.

4 Seats are vacated by retiring Allard CO, Domenici NM, Hagel NE, Warner VA.

4 Seats are held by republicans in democratic states; Coleman MN, Smith OR, Sununu NH, Collins ME

1 Seat is occupied by a republican currently being investigated by the FBI and could be taken if a good candidate runs
Stevens AL.

The Democratic Senate Campaign has been outraising the republicans by a 10-1 ratio.

It is easier for the Democrats to recruit good candidates because 1) Likely presidential coattails, 2)Higher interest in working in the majority party.

And finally we have the 'Macaca' factor. The rest of the republican candidates will say something stupid and Dean's strategy of having a good candidate in every contest will provide some surprises.
