Ohio Labor Leaders Want Obama to Come Clean on NAFTA and end his Washington double-speak
Does anyone know if Obama has responded? Surely these simple questions can easily and quickly be answered by a candidate who were are told has a great rapid response team.

Dear Senator Obama:

We were surprised and disappointed to learn that your top economic adviser reportedly had a secret meeting with a representative of the Canadian government where he dismissed your anti-NAFTA rhetoric.

According to Canadian news outlets, your adviser, Austan Goolsbee, told the Canadian Counsel General Georges Rioux that your criticism of NAFTA is "just politics" and should not be taken seriously.

After a series of misdirections and half-truths, it's time for you to come clean about your campaign's communications with the Canadian government about NAFTA. Enough with the non-denial denials and the Washington double-speak.

Many Ohioans are concerned about the issue of trade and we want answers to some simple questions:

1) Did you direct your top economic adviser - Austan Goolsbee - to tell the Canadian government that your speeches railing against NAFTA are just political rhetoric? If so, why?

2) Are you aware that Mr. Goolsbee held a secret meeting with the Canadian Counsel General Georges Rioux? Have you spoken with Mr. Goolsbee about that meeting and will you repudiate his comments?

3) Why has Mr. Goolsbee been unwilling to deny that he discussed your positions on NAFTA with Mr. Rioux? Why won't your campaign disclose the full details about that meeting?

4) Given these reports, why should Ohioans believe that you will act on the campaign promises you have made about NAFTA?

5) Sen. Clinton has issued a comprehensive plan to fix NAFTA. Why haven't you done so as well?

The people of Ohio are eager to hear from you - there's too much at stake.

Sincerely,

Gary Dwyer, Secretary-Treasurer, Ohio State Building and Construction Trades Council
Barry Pickett, Business Representative, Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local 24

16. Pasted below....but want this up top more prominently....these are unions that have endorsed Hillary
and are into this little circular game they are playing in hopes that it will catch fire. Problem is that it has been debunked, and even the pundits aren't gonna talk about the lie, and I have seen them squash it flat as soon as a Hillary surrogates attempt to bring it up. It is working like "he's a Muslim", "he wearing muslim clothes" did.....not at all.

It's simply another lie devised by the Hillary Clinton camp trying to throw the sink and stuff.

Keep praying for a miracle; this ain't going nowheres no matter how hard she tries. And I will say, she's being tenacious. It's just that it's not sticking. So sorry. :)

21. These are not "lies". I support neither candidate, but this is a real
issue that Obama supporters should address. The CTV is standing by its report. There is now a Canadian government memo that details the meeting's content. The Obama campaign did tell the Chicago consulate that NAFTA was just politics and meant nothing. Is this not something that Senator Obama ought to address? Don't you want to know how he explains this? If not, why not?

13. Try the Link in the OP
The source is MY DD. The link was provided. Where are the answers? Do you know??, does Obama know??, probably not. He's so busy with his self-serving image, or maybe he just refuses to answer on the grounds it might incriminate him. Sad. Obama talks out of both sides of mouth. Just like his supporters.

6. Hillary is playing NAFTA the way Bush-Cheney played "the military service" issue
"I was part of the Administration that brought you NAFTA yet I'm against it. My opponent, however, who states that he is against it....is secretly for it.

"So...to repeat, even though it may actually be my fault....I'm on your side. And the other guy - who has nothing to do wit it - is at fault.

"Also, if is your president and a phone rings at 3AM, your children will die.

"I'm Hillary Clinton and I approved this message."

9. Oh...well...that's convenient
This is why former VPs tend to make such lousy candidates. They always try to claim all the good from the previous administration while distancing themselves from all the bad.

Hillary has an even tougher task since no VP ever shared a bed with the president.

It's not like they have a record, a plan, a strategy, or anything else to run on.

22. It wasn't debunked. CTV is standing by the story and has obtained
a Canadian government memo detailing the meeting. This is bad for Obama and trying to blame it on Clinton is just ludicrous. I do not support Clinton and Obama needs to address this - this looks very bad for him...

14. It's not Clinton
It's from the Ohio Labor Leaders in Ohio. They want answers. Go to the link and read it yourself. What's the matter, you think stories coming out about Obama are automatically debunked?? Get real. If Obama says it ain't so, you believe it!!! Enough of idol worship, when will people start taking this primary seriously.

23. CTV has in its possession a Canadian government memo detailing
the meeting between the Chicago consulate and the Obama campaign where the Canadians are told that the NAFTA issue is just politics and means nothing. This isn't a Clinton story, this is an Obama story. What do you think he should do? Nothing? The Canadians are saying that he is a liar. Does that not matter?
