Obama's magic number to become our nominee.

As he gets super delegates or from the primaries I will ammend the number in replies down thread.

Tomorrow Tuesday March 4th

Ohio . . . 141 Pledged primary delegates
Texas . . . 126 pledged primary delegates
. . . . .and 67 pledged caucus delegates
Vermont . .15 pledged primary delegates
Rhode Island 21 pledged primary delegates

total . . . 370 pledged delegates to be decided on Mar 4

Ohio 141 pledged

Delegate breakdown
The Ohio Democratic Party sends 161 total delegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Of those delegates, 141 are pledged and 20 are unpledged. The 141 pledged delegates are allocated (pledged) to vote for a particular candidate at the National Convention according to the results of Ohio's Democratic primary on March 4, 2008. The 20 unpledged delegates (popularly called "superdelegates" because their vote represents the decision of a single person rather than the regular delegate's vote representing the collective decision of many voters) are free to vote for any candidate at the National Convention and are selected by the Ohio Democratic Party's officials.

The 141 pledged delegates are further divided into 92 district delegates and 49 state-wide delegates. The 92 district delegates are divided among Ohio's 18 Congressional Districts and are allocated to the presidential candidates based on the primary results in each District. The 49 state-wide delegates are divided into 31 at-large delegates and 18 Party Leaders and Elected Officials (abbreviated PLEO). They are allocated to the presidential candidates based on the primary results state-wide.

Of the 20 unpledged delegates, 18 were selected in advance and 2 are selected at the State Executive Committee meeting on May 10, 2008. The delegates selected in advance are 9 Democratic National Committee members, the 7 Democratic U.S. Representatives from Ohio (including former 2008 Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich), Democratic U.S. Senator from Ohio Sherrod Brown, and Ohio Democratic governor Ted Strickland.<2><3>

Texas primary 126 caucus 67

Delegate breakdown
The Texas Democratic Party sends 288 total delegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Of those delegates, 193 are pledged and 35 are unpledged. Most of the 193 pledged delegates are allocated (pledged) to vote for a particular candidate at the National Convention according to the results of Texas' Democratic primary on March 4. The 35 unpledged delegates (popularly called "superdelegates" because their vote represents the decision of a single person rather than the regular delegate's vote representing the collective decision of many voters) are free to vote for any candidate at the National Convention and are selected by the Texas Democratic Party's officials.

The 193 pledged delegates are further divided into 126 district delegates and 67 state-wide delegates. The 126 district delegates are divided among Texas' 31 Senatorial Districts and are allocated to the presidential candidates based on the primary results in each District. The 67 state-wide delegates are divided into 42 at-large delegates and 25 Party Leaders and Elected Officials (abbreviated PLEOs). They are allocated to the presidential candidates based on the preference of the delegates at the State Convention on June 6—7.

Of the 35 unpledged delegates, 32 were selected in advance and 3 are selected at the State Convention. The delegates selected in advance are 17 Democratic National Committee members, the 13 Democratic U.S. Representatives from Texas, and 2 Distinguished Party Leaders (former U.S. House Speaker Jim Wright and former DNC chairman Robert Schwarz

Vermont
Delegate breakdown primary 15 pledged

The Vermont Democratic Party sends 23 total delegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Of those delegates, 15 are pledged and 8 are unpledged. The 15 pledged delegates are allocated (pledged) to vote for a particular candidate at the National Convention according to the results of Vermont's Democratic primary on March 4. The 15 pledged delegates are further divided into 10 district delegates and 5 state-wide delegates. The 10 district delegates represent Vermont's single Congressional District. The 5 state-wide delegates are divided into 3 at-large delegates and 2 Party Leaders and Elected Officials (abbreviated PLEOs).

Of the 8 unpledged delegates, 7 were selected in advance and 1 is selected at the Vermont Democratic Party's National Convention Delegate Meeting on June 7. 5. Hoping to see that magic number down to
444 by midnight CST Tuesday.

that would be a 200 to 170 win for Obama. Doable.

But that's a 30 delegate pickup for the O man. Pretty hard.

Honestly, if the magic number is 460, I'll be very happy.

10. maybe, I hope so. If Hillary doesn't make up ground,
delegate count wise, then I hope that's when the Party Elders step in and say "enough is enough"...

But don't get your hopes up.

14. I think Richardson kind of tipped the strategy on Sunday
the big boys and girls are going to be making an appearence on Wednesday. Oddly enough the better that Clinton does the more important it will be not to have a completely futile prolonged struggle.
