Senators are some of the most powerful people in our system
and we are in the process of naming one of two of them to be our nominee, and presumably, the next President. And yet, though these two are in the opposing party to the one that handed the entire federal system, and all of our tax money, over to the Military Empire, neither one of them has spoken out (much) on American military imperialism, the wholesale engulfing of our government by corporations, the enormous heist that is our War of Choice for Profit, the "expanded" executive branch, the neutering of Congress, the evaporation of the fourth amendment, the third-worlding of the American populace, or the RAMPANT lawbreaking going on now right in front of our eyes.

I cannot believe that these two have calculated that by laying low and never speaking out against these outrages in the Senate, never leading a filibuster against the latest GOP scheme, never challenging Reid and Pelosi on impeachment, never doing anything except laying low and avoiding the gaze of The Beast (the pundit arm of the imperial press corps) they could win the nomination - AND THAT IT WORKED!

I hope and pray that Obama is going to start talking like he is in the same country as the rest of us, where crimes are being committed and must be stopped. I know Hillary, who has been more of a coward for a longer period of time, won't.

A shout out here to Kucinich, Edwards, Dodd, and even Ron Paul, who have at least expressed a passing familiarity with the big picture. We are about to nominate one of the two winners of the "who can play dumb and pretend they don't see the lawlessness" contest. Osiris help us.
