Reuters/C-SPAN/Houston Chronicle Poll: Too Close To Call! Obama Barely Overtakes Clinton in Ohio and Retains Small Edge in Texas

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1460

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pollster John Zogby: “In California, we have Obama polling into a 13-point lead. Monday was another big single day of polling for him there. What has happened here is that in addition to building leads among almost every part of his base of support, he has dramatically cut into Clinton’s lead among Hispanic voters.

Zo(m)by has called TX for Obama...He's the Mr. Haney and Joe Isuzu of polling.

5. Does That Mean Hillary Will Win TX By Twenty One Points?
Zo(m)by had her down by thirteen and she won by ten...

That means if she's down by two in TX in his poll she's really up by twenty one points...

But if she win TX and OH , even by the smallest of margins I suspect the MSM will call this a great comeback ...Then anything can happen...

I also see that Obama is struggling against Great Grand Pa McCain;leading him in some polls, trailing him in others...With all the positive press he is getting he should be putting Grand Pa McCain away...The fact he isn't should give any Democrat pause...

I know you can compute the numbers.
They don't simply go away because Hillary has decided to drag this out.
Please explain to me how anything can happen.
Are you referring to FL and MI? Superdelegate favors? or Pledged Delegate poaching?

You know that McCain is a non-issue. His polls look good now but they will be a whole different story in the Fall when People see the real choices before them.

Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 01:25 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
But if he loses TX the fact he can't win a populous state beside his own or a populous state without a large African American population is troubling...

I disagree on McCain... Obama should be beating him by double digits in the polls at this time because Obama will never be more popular than he is now, riding on the wave of an adoring and unquestioning main stream media...

As Joe Trippi has said "Obama has gotten the equivalent of $250,000,000.00 of free advertising."

He will be again once he has put her away for good.

You must admit that McCain has little to no chance in November.
People will not elect Bush a third time.

Since you have accepted that Obama is the likely nominee,
do you support these last ditch attacks by Hillary?

Is it worth damaging the Democratic Nominee just to satisfy her ego?

30. There is a whole world out there, and Obama is winning in it
Maybe you should look beyond Florida for your perspective on this Country.

Democratic Turnout is dwarfing that of Repubs.
Alot of that is due to Barack Obama.
He is drawing millions of New Voters.
People who were part of that 70 million who didn't vote in 2004, will vote this time around.

You must see what is happening. It will be a landslide in November. We just have to make it there without destroying ourselves internally.

33. do you deny what I am saying about new voters?
If Obama and McCain each got the same votes that Kerry and Bush got (which will not happen),
Obama would still win with the millions of new voters added.

In reality, McCain will get less votes than Bush did and Obama will still get all the new voters.

36. Care to tell me why?
McCain will not be able to draw the numbers that Bush did. Bush has seen to that.
It doesn't help one bit that McCain plans a continuation of Bush's Military and Economic policies.
This alone could probably garner Obama a victory.

But when you take into account the masses of New Voters who now support Obama and were not included in the 2004 total, a beautiful picture begins to emerge.

In November, Obama will have the Traditional Democrats at his side just like Gore and Kerry,
but along with them will be a new wave of Americans stepping out of the Political shadows.
These people have never been counted before. No poll or model can accurately represent them.
That is why this Primary Contest has been such a surprise. These Obama supporters weren't supposed to exist according to previous models.

I imagine it much like the last battle in the Lord of the Rings.
Just when all seems lost, a Phantom Army swoops in to destroy the Enemy and save the day.

We can have that Phantom Army fighting at our side, but Obama is the only person who can lead them.

Doesn't that imagery put a smile on your face?

37. when Obama wins texas and I believe the way its
apportioned he will, then the flood gates for super delegates will open and he will be buried. I think they are just waiting for the last inevitability to occur and if Hillary thinks she can make up with superdelegates what she can't win in popular vote, I think she is clutching at straws. The numbers in texas are against her in the delegate allotments.

Except EVERY poll has been wrong at least once this primary season, which means all should be wrong in Texas, then, right?

SurveyUSA had Clinton winning Missouri by 11, she lost.
American Research Group had Clinton beating Obama in Iowa by 13, she lost by 8.

Every poll has been wrong at one point...so logic doesn't suggest that at all.

Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 06:42 PM by Mike03
I respect both of these candidates, but twelve hours ago I listened to talk show host Ray Taliafero read the results of alleged polls that said Obama was leading Clinton in both Ohio and Texas by approx. 2 to 3 points.

He also said that because of the voting logistics, Clinton not only had to win, but had to beat Obama by a margin of twenty five to thirty points.

At this point, I'm bewildered and content to confess I've no idea who is telling the truth.

May the best person win tomorrow. This is really exciting.

Blame in Canada
By Ian Austen

OTTAWA — It’s not at all unusual for Stephen Harper, the prime minister of Canada, and the members of his cabinet to grilled by the opposition parties in Parliament. It isn’t common, however for the partisan bickering here to be focused on the Democratic primary in the United States.
On Monday, the fighting over a report that a senior campaign official to Barack Obama had provided back-channel reassurances to the Canadian government on the North American Free Trade Agreement, erupted in Parliament as Mr. Harper fended off allegations that he was interfering in the U.S. elections and trying to undermine Mr. Obama’s campaign.
