I had to unregister from the John Kerry website
I got am unsolicited Email from Obama with the JohnKerry.com. I dumped it in the trash with all the other porno scam crap I get, and got another spam from them soon after, then another. I guess JK gave Barrack Hussien Obama my email address as well as anyone else who joined JK.com in 04.

4. Your nasty comments are unwelcome.
If you don't want to get email from politicians, don't sign up for email from politicians. Both John Kerry and Barack Obama are Democrats. Kerry has endorsed Obama. If you can't bring yourself to simply delete emails you don't care to read, at least have the courtesy to keep your nasty thoughts ("dumped it in the trash with all the other porno scam crap I get...") to yourself.

Why do you use Obama's middle name? It's not as if he goes by it.

Seems like an odd thing for a progressive to do.

He sent his own letter out and HE sent ONE Obama letter out - note Kerry sent both letters. (I could use search to find it if you are really concerned.)

32. No
he didn't give his mailing list to anyone. Per a http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=4051153&mesg_id=4051451">Kerry staffer earlier this year:

Turning over someone's private information to outside parties without consent is unacceptable. That's why we have never sold, rented, loaned, or otherwise given access to the information in our database to anyone else, and never will.

On infrequent occasions we have permitted someone to provide us with the text content for a special mailing and we have sent it out to our email list over their signature -- as we did with this last email from Senator Obama, and with one that went out several months ago from Al Gore promoting his climate change initiatives -- but when we do that, we send it out ourselves, through our own email server system, following our standard privacy policies.

That's why the reply-to address on the email you received was still info@johnkerry.com and why it had the "John Kerry for Senate" graphic and contact information above and below the body of the email.

I hope this helps to reassure you that your trust was not violated and that the private information you provided to us via johnkerry.com remains private. We appreciate your continued support for Senator Kerry in his efforts to help elect as many Democrats to the House and Senate in 2006 and 2008 as possible.

We're not now, nor will we be, in the business of helping Senator Obama "spam" anyone. Our email list is our own, and this was a one-off effort to assist someone that Senator Kery believes deserves his endorsement in the primary race. As he has noted repeatedly, he will also support Senator Clinton, former Senator Edwards, or anyone else who wins the Democratic nomination for President in 2008.

for a similar reason.

Then they kept sending me e-mails asking me why I left and please come back.....

I guess they miss my donations?

But... I never sent them donations so that they could tell me who I should vote for.

So, no thanks.... I am not rejoining.

I thought it was ridiculous that they would endorse during the primaries. Their goal should be to help win the general, not divide the party during the primaries. BadMove on the part of MoveOn.

33. He only sent me one Obama email
He did send some of his own emails that dealt with things like swiftboating in 2008 - it might interest you that his concern extended to whomever was the Democratic candidate. If you remember, when the Republicans came after HRC when she asked about an exit plan to Iraq, the first Democrat out protecting her was Kerry - leading to a NYT article implying that he was supporting her.

23. Just now? As soon as Kerry aligned himself with Obama I got a solicitation
and told them to stop.

The sad thing is that Kerry got my name from the Edwards list back in 2004, yet, instead of Edwards getting back his list, he had to start from scratch while Obama sailed with it.

And I have not gotten a single piece of Barack Obama related mail.

Since I am politically active, I get all sorts of emails from various political entities. I don't freak out, I just delete the ones I'm not interested in. It's really not the end of the world. Certainly not worth an angry post on DU.

Still. Odd that you are getting "spam" related to Obama from John Kerry.com, and I am not.

36. perhaps you were already signed up for Obama's emails
so he did not duplicate them. But those three were from Kerry talking about Obama. I also got one from Obama on January 11, touting the Kerry endorsement. Also, sometimes messages like that will get caught in my spam filter, whether I ask them to or not.

29. A Kerry staffer posted here at the time Kerry endorsed
that they had never given anybody the list and never would. What Kerry did was he first send his own message endorsing Obama and he then sent a message from Obama to his list (saying sent from John Kerry).

Rather odd you posting this in March - didn't this happen in January

37. No - Kerry sent it for Obama, but, when you choose to discard the one lawmaker who
has uncovered and exposed more government corruption than any lawmaker in modern history, what does that say about YOUR priorities and YOUR sense of proportion?

Is everything just a political CAMPAIGN Battle to you? Is THAT what citizens'government accountable to the people means to you?

38. Good grief. What is the deal with making a point to list Obama's middle name?
Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 06:37 PM by grace0418
What's your point? That he has a middle name that sounds like a Muslim name? And...?

You do realize that is A.) a racist, right-wing tactic to exploit ignorant people's fear of terrorists and Muslims and B.) also a tactic of 3rd grade bullies who can't think of anything more constructive than to mock a kid for having a "weird" name?

But hey, if that's the company you like to keep, good on ya.

40. The "Hussein" in his name is kind of like...
...the "n word" for African Americans or the "q word" for gays:

It's acceptable if they use it amongst and about themselves. Otherwise, it's hateful bigotry.

For example, someone who is not a supporter of Obama's, yet calls him Barack Hussein Obama (or even misspells two of the three names as "Barrack Hussien Obama") might be mistaken for an intolerant, racist, half-literate, right-wing, porn-addicted troll.

Just a heads-up, friend. Wouldn't want any misunderstandings.
