Austin, TX is excited about tomorrow
I'm a political junkie so this has been an exciting time for me since the primaries are usually done by the time I get to vote in them.

The excitement in this town is incredible! My seven yr old daughter is talking about Clinton and Obama with our 11 yr old neighbor and I'm blown away at the maturity and sophistication of their discussion. There's nothing more beautiful than hearing the generation of tomorrow discuss politics...and completely dismissing the Republican candidate. :D

My husband and I went to dinner last Friday and I swear every table around us discussed the upcoming election at least once. Some of the conversations were funny to me, some were well informed...either way, I loved knowing that people were talking about it.

I went to a baby shower Sunday and the first thing I was asked is if I voted early or if I'll vote on Tuesday. One of the women I met at the party had to stand in line for almost 2 hours for early voting! I'm starting to wonder if I made the stupid decision to vote on Tuesday.

Sunday night we had several neighbors over for dinner. Once again, the discussion turned to politics. Who will caucus? Who has voted early? Everyone is excited. You can practically feel the electricity in the air.

:bounce:

1. There has been much discussion in this primary about Austin
I used to live there.

I am curious to know how people think the results will come down in the surrounding counties: Williamson, Hays, Comal, Blanco, Burnett, Bell.

8. Obama's people have been canvassing in Burnet County
I've not heard of Hillary's people being in the area.

From the people I've spoken to early voting turnout was considerably higher. I don't know if this is true of all precincts though since I've only had opportunity to inquire about a few.

The local Democrats are excited and the divide for the candidates is pretty close. I've spoken to a few more Obama supporters than Hillary supporters but that could be due to the age group I interact with the most.

Sorry I can't help you out any on the other areas.

2. Yes, it's a Texas brush fire, and it's burning everywhere!
Never seen Texas like this for Democrats in the presidential primary.

10. Fortunately I don't have to work tomorrow....
My plan is to pick up my daughter from school and take her with me to the polling place. It's a tradition I started since she was a baby.

11. This may be a stupid question, but I don't live in Texas.
If you voted early, or vote on Tuesday, do you have to caucus for your vote to count? Isn't it an either or thing? I'm so confused because if you vote and then caucus, isn't that like voting twice? Please help this confused New Englander.

12. The voting, early and primary, count
The vote itself, results in electing a certain number of delegates. I think 122. I could be so wrong on that number.

The caucus decides an additional (wrong number maybe) 67 delegates.

Then there are the super delegates and neither votes nor caucuses decide anything for them.

In other words, yes, the vote counts for the delegates distributed as a result of the vote.

The caucus counts for selecting an additional number of delegates.

6. I wish Texas Democrats (I used to be one) would have gotten
this excited during the last Gubernatorial Election. Instead, the state as Prick Perry. Ugh. :puke:

that won't die after this year. I hope.

9. I still remember Molly Beth Malcolm's "Dream Team" shutout in 2002
Would have been too much to ask for just one, ONE, of those candidates to have won?

One?

15. I, too, would like to see this as the start of something big.
But...I think this is America's way of letting georgie know that we are sick and tired of his presidency with all the corruption, lies, war, terrible economy, deficit, etc. Except for his 19%, we are all hungering for an America we can be proud of once again. This isn't just happening in Texas, but across all the states. It would be wonderful if our citizens could be this enthusiastic about every election, but I'm afraid we will go back to our apathetic elections in the future. Unless, of course, we ever get another prez as evil as gwb. Heaven help us if that ever happens. It is all we can do to survive this one.
