but it's not what she said.
Hillary selects her words ve-ry careful-ly. Unless she formally retracts this statement, she will be held fully responsible for it. Doubtful that she'd risk any damage control. She could dig herself in deeper.
It was political betrayal to --even slightly-- suggest ANY kind of alliance or similarity to John McCain in comparison to Obama. This was no gaff or mis-statement.
Rachel Maddow was right to heavily criticize this performance and speculate on what ulterior motives might be there.

Some are very misguided folks...especially when they put out statements like this OP says they made. I'll bet that Rachel (as a Rhodes Scholar) didn't say what this OP said she did because he/she didn't even do the work to VERIFY by posting a link to the transcript.
But, hey! In Bush America Lies and lacking "verification" is what everyone knows ...so why shouldn't "some folks" capitalize on the OPPORTUNITY to know that you can say something OUTRAGEOUS...and NO ONE WILL EVEN FACT CHECK YOUR STATEMENT ...until SO LATE that the AUDIENCE WILL HAVE FORGOTTEN!

|
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 05:48 AM by Duppers
In the general election, McCain will be throwing HIS experience at the voters and HRC was telling voters that only she can stack experience against experience and Obama cannot.
JesusH.Christ! That was a low blow on Maddow's part. She's lost all credibility with me now. 'Run with McCain,' my ass!!! Pleeeeeeeeaze!!
Hillary is done tomorrow anyway, so put those carving knives away.
I support Obama because he opposed that fucking war, but I cannot stand these FauxNoise tactics I am seeing on Countdown and here at DU.

73. Who knows what she will do... |

I'm turned off by them both...but the Obama supporters on DU are so vile they've turned me towards Hillary as the "underdog." I like underdogs... I think she deserves to be the "underdog" for how she's been treated by rabid attack dogs who've turned folks off to a candidate who actually has a decent message and has energized many voters. BUT...the folks here on DU who support him are so vile...that one has to hold one's nose to deal with it. And...it's sad because so many are long time DU'ers who've been here as long or longer than I have. I wonder if they got "taken over" by some "pods" of if they were always that way...and somehow I missed it all these years. Silly me...I probably have cucumber sprouts growing outta's my head. :eyes:

She's from Air America so I'm sure it's some crazy tactic to sink Hillary.
I have a hard time listening to Air America because they seem just as biased as Fox but in the opposite direction.
I don't want ANY biased news. I want the truth so I can make an informed decision. Not be told what to think.

What people want to believe here too is outrageous!
HRC was trying to tell voters that only she can stack experience against experience and Obama cannot. It was one of her last ditch efforts to persuade voters.
Maddow's lost all credibility with me now. Run with McCain, my ass!!! Pleeeeeeeeaze!!
Hillary is done tomorrow anyway, so put those carving knives away. The two-way, blind venom here on DU is almost as sickening as FauxNoise.

101. If Rachel believes that, she's a fool. And if you believe Rachel.... |
|
well, it goes without saying, doesn't it.
I'm an Obama supporter, but I'm sick of this nonsense about Clinton endorsing McCain over Obama (she didn't) and sick of uninformed, stupid posts that suggest Clinton is going to be McCain's VP. ANyone who has spent five minutes following politics would know how ridiculous that assertion is. So anyone who makes that assertion and who has spent more than five minutes following politics -- which I assume includes both the OP and Rachel Maddow -- is pursuing a bullshit agenda that deserves to be condemned no matter who one is supporting for the Democratic nomination.

102. Rachel didn't say that. And Hillary's not auditioning for McCain's VP. And you are all nuts! |
|
This has sunk to the level of people interpreting scripture to find revealed prophesy.
All this spinning is getting me dizzy. Hillary did not endorse McCain. However, as pointed out by Rachel, her inartful statement will be spun by Republicans as an endorsement. Fat chance she will be chosen or run with McCain. You are all arguing over hyperbolic hypotheticals.

You have to buy into the experience argument, which I don't. (Cheney and Rumsfeld have lots of experience.) She is trying to paint her opponent as not belonging in the race, and as I said, this shot was inartful, because of how it would be spun. Any attack on Obama will be read the same way.
There is no preparation for being president, including being president. Presidents who are bad, do not get better in their second term. They may become better politicians, but that is not the same thing.

Disgusting is our invasion and occupation of Iraq. Treason is outing Valerie Plame.
What Hillary did was a political ploy. Personally, I think it was ill-conceived and will backfire on her. But it doesn't reach the level of disgusting and treason. Please.

I'm no Hillary fan but let's just ponder this for a minute. Can you imagine what having Hillary as a running mate would do to McLame's standing in his own party, which is already on shaky ground with conservatives? And the Clintons? Forget it. They'd be done with in the eyes of Democrats. Please, the plenty of reasons to criticize Hillary, especially for those awful comments she made yesterday. But it will be a cold day in hell that she and McLame ever run together.
