Not asking for advice... pleeez, I've heard it all.

And, this isn't a thread for Dennis bashers, either.

This happens to be driving me right up the wall.

I found out last night that they have changed my caucus location, and I can't even get there. It's too far away to walk safely at night coming home, and there is no parking there. Isn't that just CUTE?

I doubt that there will be *anyone* from my precinct at all at the caucus, as most are elderly and handicapped, and not able to walk there, especially at night.

The caucus used to be right across the street, and many of us attended.

This SUX.

I'm sooo mad I could spit, and just feel hopeless beyond belief. (Again, no advice... there are no answers.)

So, for those of you who have your caucuses coming up, and thinking it's not worth the bother, remember those ofus who would LOVE to go and can't.

Kanary, mad as hell.........

Another Delusional Diehard for Dennis!!

1. Contact the DK org in your state
and other orgs that might help people get to the polls. Try the State Dem party org, etc

2. I would have thought this would have been of *SOME* interest to DKers
I mean, it's certainly been a belly-drop for me.

Maybe that's why so many Dk stickers, avatars, sigs have come down?

5. So, if you don't want advice, what do you want?
I guess I don't understand what you're looking for. You're describing a problem that does not, on the face of it, appear to be completely insoluble. Why wouldn't you be willing to consider possible solutions, if you truly wish to attend your caucus?

6. Just thought you would care.
Some of us aren't middle class.

Some of us don't have the resources you have.

I thought *MAYBE* I could express that, and just have it cared about, like others can talk about their kid getting sent to Iraq and have it cared about.

But, your tone says it all....

So, dismiss me as someone who doesn't "truly wish to attend" my caucus.

Along with my elderly and handicapped neighbors.

But, I guess accessibility is just so much ......

Oh well.

I'll leave the caring to those who have some worth.

ta-ta

14. I'm not dismissing you.
I sincerely would like to see you be able to attend your caucus, and I'd like to know more about why you think it's "hopeless".

I've lived through alot of shit in my 54 years, my very survival has depended on creative problem-solving, so it's second nature for me to look for ways to get over obstacles whenever they appear.

Not sure I qualify as "middle class; I live in the woods with no running water, and I raised two kids as a single mom with a below poverty-level income for most of my adult life.

Sorry, I hardly think that your difficulty in getting to your caucus is comparable to someone with a kid in Iraq. You're not exactly helping out your elderly and handicapped neighbors by indulging in self-pity instead of brainstorming ways to get help for them and for yourself, imho.

But I guess this just confirms that I'm someone with no "worth"...

Too bad...

I'm totally devoid of "creative thinking" and haven't lifted a finger to help myself.

Criticism always helps.

I'll shut up and go away.

I'm sorry you can't go to your caucus, I can tell it means alot to you..and I understand how frustrating it must be.

If there's absolutely no way to get there, you should at least complain so that this doesn't happen again.

9. Thanks, Kathleen
I registered my complaint..... it hurts even worse that this was done by the Democratic Party.

The county office didn't care, so I called the state office. Not much better there, although they weren't aware of the issue. So, I did all I could. Hundreds of people are disenfranchised. Then they'll complain of "low voter turnout".

So, yes, it will "happen again". It just doesn't matter.

And, no, I can't get hundreds of people to follow suit. These are poor, elderly, and handicapped people who have been screwed over so much, and have so many fights on their hands already, that they just take it, and go on the best they can. That's part of being poor. You learn to expect it.

So much for democracy.

8. My sympathies!
Sorry about the location change.
My advice is to contact the state campaign.
http://www.coloradoforkucinich.net/contacts.asp
I can't imagine that they would not arrange for transportation for dedicated Kucinich supporters such as yourself.
I would have posted earlier but read that you did not want advice, so I refrained.
So sorry for the location change but please don't let that stop you from supporting DK on April 13th.

10. Can't get replies from "state office"
Told people in the campaign.

There's nothing they can do.

"No advice" simply means to *understand* it's a painful mess.

Sometimes the situation can't be fixed, but that doesn't mean the person should just keep quiet, and sit in a corner. Sometimes you just need to cry, and have a friendly arm around the shoulder. We can't all smile through everything all the time.

Please understand.... to keep repeating that you have done all that can be done, and you are still hurting sometimes just adds to the pain. I took all the action I could take before posting this. I just needed people to care. That's legitimate.

18. Our local party gives rides to people like you.
Actually, pur party will give anyone who needs a ride to the polls a ride; all you have to do is call and ask. I bet yours does the same. If not, contact AFSCME, UAW, etc., because they often do the same thing.

19. I'm sorry Kanary. : (
That really sucks that they pulled that. Unfortunately, I've read about caucus and primary locations being changed and made more inaccessable in alot of places.

I feel really bad for you because I know how much you wanted to caucus for DK.

I know you don't want any advice, but I still hope you can find some way to get to the caucus location. I'm wondering about the transportation systems they have for handicapped and elderly people?

Please don't get mad at me. Hell, if I wasn't planning on caucusing for DK here, I'd offer to come down and drive people to and from the caucus location, in fact, doing that might be a better use of my time.

Anyway, if there's anything I can do, please let me know.

Once more, I'm really sorry about all this.:-(

20. This stinks!
My goodness, as hard as you have worked I would think someone would find a ride for you! We drive a lot of people around to vote. Nobody will help? I can't imagine, you have worked too hard for this. I am so sorry to hear this. If I was closer I would drive in to take you. This really does stink. For someone who has kept this up against all the odds and kept such a good attitude you should be there.

24. We'll get you there, somehow
We had a resolution in MN come up to hold the precinct caucuses in the precinct itself, instead of at a "centralized" location, exactly for people in your situation (don't own a car, elderly, disabled, etc.) so they can participate.

Rattle as many doors as you can. The state party and/or DK org. The county party. Even party orgs in nearby towns or counties. There must be some way to get you to the caucus.

I hope that you get a chance to attend your caucus. Even though I'm an atheist, I'll say a prayer for you. Hell, I'm tempted to drive to CO myself from MN but unfortunately I'm unemployed and broke.

Hang in there-- there MUST be a solution.

and get back to me asap!

This campaign can't afford to let a single vote or caucuser be left out, and every last person at National and Dennis himself would agree with me. There HAS to be a way to get you there, and the Kucinich crew will make sure we find it one way or another!

But you can still go to your caucus! Just because it's in a different spot doesn't mean you can't vote! DK needs your support even now, and if you spend a few bucks on a cab to and fro, it'll be worth more to him than donating that money to his campaign. Do it for Dennis! :hi:
