HAMDEN, Conn. -- Gov. John G. Rowland's support among Connecticut registered voters continues to drop, even among fellow Republicans, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.
The poll, released Thursday, found 70 percent of registered voters believe Rowland should resign, up from 67 percent who called for the governor to quit in a poll released Feb. 19.
The telephone survey was conducted between March 28-30, the same time Rowland appeared frequently on the news to report on the progress of repair work on Interstate-95 in Bridgeport, which had been closed following a fiery accident that melted part of an overpass. There was little mention of his ethical troubles during those days.
