Gain of 308,000 jobs far better than Wall Street's forecasts; unemployment rate up to 5.7 percent."
"U.S. payrolls grew at the fastest pace in nearly four years in March, the government said Friday, in a report that soared past Wall Street forecasts and could play a pivotal role in Fed policy and the presidential election."
"The president and administration officials are expressing pride in the fact that the economy has finally started to create some jobs, but on the third anniversary of the Bush jobs slump, we are still in a deep hole," Rep. Pete Stark D-Calif., senior Democrat on the Joint Economic Committee, said in a statement."
Bush, Rove and returning pig Karen Hughes are going to milk this one for all it's worth. If Kerry doesn't come out swinging and ready to fight for the presidency based on this report, now would be a good time to find a warm place to curl up before November as Bush casually strides into four more frigging years.
I understand that Kerry has a strategy. I do not understand what it is, although I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that it is not to let Bush steamroller over him. Time will tell.
"The implication is that we should see the direction of job growth continue to improve -- that is, for the next four or five months. Beyond that, these leading indicators don't tell us."
