Newshour reporting the jobs created were mostly low paying jobs
Other words people are taking less paying jobs because there unemployment has ran out and they will take anything at this point. No manufacturing(high paying) jobs created.

4. Robust Growth Does Not Equal Robust Security
No one saying these things ever bothers to mention the rest of the disclaimer: Robust economic growth does not necessarily equal robust personal financial security.

Unless you're a Pioneer, of course...

3. This needs to be shouted from the roof tops.
More layoff news all over today, but not too much attention being paid. Media too busy salivating over the 300k new jobs....yeah, I wanna work for minimum wage again. I am sure my creditors would appreciate that.

7. CBS now reporting on this.
Saying that it's 'encouraging'. However ...

Wall Street 'solid gains'.

Show us the jobs tour. 'Fastest growth in 4 years.' 'It's just one month'

Outsourcing. Increasing. Kerry's new commercial on jobs.

**********************************

No mention of the low wage nature of those jobs.

Fuck 'em.

10. Construction
It's natural for construction to go up in March. My dad used to work construction, he would run out of work in December and not work until March.

12. "Robust" Economy "fueled" by government borrowing
and inflated real estate transactions (brought about by artificially low interest rates). Everybody knows that there is no substance here, but nobody wants to stop & get off the ride yet.

Bush has pushed and pushed on this borrowing policy since it is the only easy thing to do. He will be damned if he is going to let the same thing that happened to his old man happen to him.

13. It is worth noting that if you want "job growth" you get rid of benefits.
It forces people to take the crappiest jobs available.

15. TruthIsAll laid it out...
in another post here on DU...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=1334888

<snip>
Of the 308,000 "new" jobs:
20,000 returning California grocery workers idled from dispute
47,000 return of striking and locked-out workers
71,000 were EXISTING construction jobs for workers who were idled in February attributed to bad weather.

That's 138,000 jobs that were there in the first place.
There was no increase in manufacturing jobs. And most of the jobs were retail clerks and hamburger flippers paid $3.50-$7.00/hr below average wages.
<end>

Thanks to TruthIsAll for the real picture...

the spin from this administration just never stops...
I don't care about impeachment anymore... indict, convict and imprison these bastards..!

peace;
rob

16. "Not all the labor indicators turned positive in March, however."
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/04/03/business/03ECON.html?pagewanted=2&hp

Not all the labor indicators turned positive in March, however. According to the household survey, almost 24 percent of all the people listed as jobless have been unemployed for at least half a year, a full percentage point above the level in February and the highest level since July 1983, when unemployment soared to 9.3 percent.

At the same time, the average workweek of nonsupervisory workers slipped by 0.1 hour, to 33.7 hours. And average weekly earnings fell by 0.2 percent over the month to $523.70 — barely 1.8 percent higher than it was a year ago.

Indeed, despite the employment increase, the index of aggregate weekly hours of production or nonsupervisory workers — which measures the aggregate amount of work outside of farms in the private sector — fell by 0.1 percentage point in March to 99 percent.

"You can still find labor market slack in these numbers," said Jared Bernstein, a economist at the union-supported Economic Policy Institute. "The question is, Is this just a head fake or will jobs stay on a path for growth?"
