Has anyone been watching the Senate races?
DO we have a shot at getting back the seats needed to retake the Senate?

I'd say 50/50. IL, AK, SC and OK look promising, that I can think of off the top of my head...

2. Currently, OKLA is very promising
I need to go look for a poll, but Rep. Carson was beating his repuke challenger by double digits.

7. Clooney is running for the house. Ken Lucas' district
who is retiring. State Sen. Dan Mongiardo is running against Bunning for the KY senate seat though.

8. That race is House KY-4
Democrat Ken Lucas is retiring. It does look like Nick Clooney can keep that seat in the Democratic column. KY-6 is also more promising since Chandler now has the advantage of incumbency after winning the special election.

There are plenty of Senate races out there to keep an eye on. IL, AK, and FL (among many others) should be very interesting.

4. Give up on the senate we have 5 retiring Dem's and already
7 or 8 blue-dog Dem's in the senate now. So the shrub already has a6 to seven senators above the majority. Were going to lose big in the senate and then Dino's like LIEberman will switch giving the rethuglacans a 2/3 majority so even if we were to win the whitehouse which is tenuous at best the fascist will still be in control. We need to try to keep our losses in the house to less than 10 if possible so we can start to build a grassroots campaign to regain control, assuming the shrub just doesn't just declare himself dictator. We have to try to rebuild America from scratch.

6. A voice in the wilderness
You sound dispirited and you should not be so down!

This is a grand and glorious task , one that is so very important to the future of our children. You already are ahead of the curve in that you recognise the failures and the lost cause that is the democratic party, good for you.

Look at the majority here, so enamored of their status as democrats that they cannot see that their beloved party has abandoned them all.....The best thing that could happen to them is to see their wildest dreams realised, have Kerry win the WH and regain a majority in the legislature, and then, sadly, note that the nation continues to be driven by and for the wealthiest few.

11. Thats the Spirit!
...With that attitude we'll have retaken all the wings of government by... oh.... i don't know.... the year 30,000!

Miller will make sure we lose (what ever happened to the Gov Miller of the early 1990's?) however looks like we will have a stronger candidate than we though....what was her name congresswoman?

SC is going to be very competitive Tannenbaum is looking a lot stronger than many though...

FL we should win.

AR isn't even a contest Lincoln has it in the bag she has no serious oppoant...

MD is in the bag...

WI could be tough, but Feingold should be ok...

NC will be competitive, but i have hope!

LA we should win, so long as Breaux is active in supporting his sucessor...

OK will be competitive but we should win.

IL much more competitive than many though but we'll win it.

AK, more competitive than it would seem, but we should win.

CO we should win.

Well thats my wrap up of the Senate races...

If Toomey toplles Specter then we should have a strong shot at PA...

All this talk about Lieberman and other moderate democrats leaving and joining the GOP is just crap....complete and utter crap... and its destructive... you may not agree with him, but he is way better than any republican even the moderate ones!... (unlike Miller who is way to the right of McCain, Snowe and that guy from RI)... the moderate/ DLC and conservative wing of the party is not going to switch and stop suggesting such inflammatory things... talk about a problem with party unity on this board! Edwards and Graham where not as conservative as the likes of Breaux and Lieberman... and at the moment Blue-Dogs like Chandler, Landrieu and Blanco are the ones winning races not those on the far left like Kucinich or Nader...hell they could even win in San Francisco!... sorry to rant and come across as very abrasive but for the love of ... just don't be so ignorant as you bemoan the "DINO" we all wish the GOP was dominated by "RINO" yet when it comes to our own moderates the far left liberals scream for their expulsion despite years of good and loyal service to the party, their states and their contry... as far as Miller is concerned and dislike the guy and think he is a turn coat and a traitor but there are many good moderate Dem's who have supported us and we should support them and don't confuse that with agreeing with them... its called coalition building it how you win elections if your interested in winning that is!

12. Don't forget that
lastknowngood thinks that Kerry will only carry New York and Massachusetts, while Bush* wins the other 48 states. I don't think we should be looking in his direction for inspiration.

13. Good Piont...
... I think the election at the presidential level and the senate level is going to be tough but with Edwards as VP Kerry can win this thing IMHO...

14. He also thinks that
Arnold will single handedly wipe all Democratic voters from the voting rolls in California despite the fact that the Secretary of State and all other statewide offices in California are held by Democrats.

5. Of course we have a "shot". But the GOP still has the advantage on paper
Right now our main priority should be helping the strongest possible dems get the nomination in respective primaries and if possible helping clearly weaker repubs get the nomination. The one clear target I see of a huge difference being made now that Obama(the clearly strongest dem in my opinion) has gotten the Ill nomination is for dems to help Alex Penelas get the dem nomination in the Florida senate race. Not only is he much stronger on paper against McCollum or Martinez than Castor of Deutsch, Kerry would without any doubt gain more of the Cuban/hispanic vote as a spilloff from Penelas than if Castor or Deutsch were the nominee.

9. I think we have an excellent shot at getting the Senate back...
There is so much animosity towards the R's that alsmost anything is possible. Of course, it all depends on the strength of the candidates, and BBV results. I think the Senate will go D, simply because bush is such a screw up.

Get out and vote, the R's will stay home in droves this election.

:)

10. We have a shot in PA
especially if right-winger Pat Toomey beats moderate Specter in the Rep primaries.
