The OFFICIAL: Bring Edwards back thread. |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 09:26 PM by LibraLiz1973
Because this whole process has turned in to a nightmare since he left.
For the record, I would bet that Obama would agree with this. John kept it calm. It's open season without him.

Obama and Clinton sniped at each other and John stepped in like a grownup?
God, I miss him!

It was a lot less ugly when he was around. This is REALLY unattractive and just WRONG.

9. I remember Biden and the other grownups doing that long ago |
|
At one point Biden said the American people didn't care about this back and forth between candidates. Maybe Joe was NOT right about that. The media at least, if not the voters, are sure enjoying the mudslinging.

32. Remember the one before where he hit HRC extremely hard, |
|
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 01:28 PM by karynnj
HRC hit back - but mostly at Obama -- often with cheap shots*. The media spoke of Obama and Edwards attacking HRC and took Obama to task for saying when asked "you're likable enough".
There were many early debates where Edwards was definitely the one attacking the most. (He called HRC corrupt and said she didn't have a conscience.) The grown ups I saw were Biden, Dodd and Richardson.
* one example - saying Obama said the Patriot Act was bad when running in 2004, but he voted for it in 2006.
All true, except, - in 2004, he actually added that it needed to be fixed. - In 2006, they were voting on a bill where many things were fixed - and HRC voted for it too. - Before that vote, Democrats were still pushing additional amendments to improve it - but that was stopped when the Republicans won a cloture vote that effectively cut that off and led to the vote. HRC voted FOR cloture, Obama against it (ie Obama and others attempted to filibuster as they had successfully a few months before. - Obama, and other Democrats who thought the bill still had problems, signed onto a bill by Spector that would correct more of the flaws. That bill was intended for when things had changed enough it could succeed.

He was my guy, and he could have handed Grandpa McCain his flabby old ass on a plate.
He scared the crap out of the media and the DC establishment. He was their worst nightmare, so they had to put him down early.

18. Give us a PROGRESSIVE candidate, PLEASE!! |
|
I have lost interest in this election since Edward's departure. :boring: The manner in which it was done is still very suspect in my mind. :yoiks:
I just can't get excited over the 2 corporate candidates who are left. :hangover: I'm supporting Obama now, by default. I don't believe we need another Bush or Clinton. We need a break from them!
We miss you, John!! :dem:

I guess I'll just never get over him being gone. It has been a different kind of process since he left, I agree -- it was very noticeable to me how dramatically the tone changed. Someone upstream mentioned the debate where he stepped in and was the voice of sanity. Sigh.

23. This effort to tie everything up with a bow by March is giving everyone a headache!!! |
|
And -- yes --- we are sorely lacking now for some real discussion which came with Kucinich and Edwards ---
As usual, the two inferior candidates are the most likely to win the nominations --- !!!
Same thing in 2004 -- btw, what are Howard Dean's plans . . . ??? Anyone know?

25. Draft Edwards! . . . or Draft Gore! . . . or . . . |
|
"Draft ANYONE!" other than the "lesser of two evils" candidates now in the running . . . neither is qualified to lead this nation during the coming turbulent times, imo . . . we need real leaders with real experience and real skills and real understanding of real issues -- like ending the war, non-corporate universal healthcare, rebuilding the manufacturing base (via a "Manhattan Project" for alternative energy?)and doing whatever is necessary to forestall (or at least minimize) the coming economic collapse . . .
please, Democrats . . . give us a candidate we can enthusiastically support! . . .

33. Edwards has no more credientials on this than those running |
|
and he never generated as much support.
I would not argue drafting Gore (or Kerry who has real credentials, not focused grouped words on each of those topics) be drafted - it is completely undemocratic. They did not run. You shouldn't win if you don't run.
In Edwards' case, there is LESS reason to argue it - he ran and did not generate as much support as either of the two still running and he doesn't have a very large fraction of the experience, knowledge or accomplishments that Gore and Kerry have.
Most of us do not enthusiastically support Edwards - both Obama and HRC have more enthusiastic support.
