What will you be doing on election night?
Me? It really depends on how close the polls are up until then. I can only draw on the 2000 election for a comparison. I was NERVOUS!

But, even if Kerry is 5 points ahead in the polls I'll still be as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof. And if Bush is ahead I'll not decide it's a forgone conclusion either.

The truth of the matter is I'll be on pins and needles on election night this year. Some of my fears and nervousness might be relieved by the events and polls leading up to election night, there is no way to predict that now.

The media better not fuck it up again! LOL!

I'll be working in my local precinct until the polls close. After that I'll be glued to all the results I can get my hands on.

If Kerry loses, I'll be devastated. It will be hard to sleep. If Kerry wins, I'll be ecstatic! It will be hard to sleep. Either way I'm not going to get much sleep election night.

What are you going to be doing election night?

12. I don't know if I'll drink.
I may have a 6 pack, and then decide whether I'll drink or not.

And I don't normally drink!

5. I'm seeing something like an outdoor, in the streets, top-popping jubilee
Car horns blowing - just pure, uncontrolled glee. Something like a New Year's eve party or Marti Gras, but so much more real and ecstatic, because we will have saved our nation, and much of the world, from the criminal gang known as bush.

Can't wait!!!!

8. I've already arranged to take Election Day and the day after off
I'll be doing some form of GOTV on Election Day, and probably watching results come in from my congressional district's Democratic Election Night HQ. (A little back story -- my husband, Whitacre D_WI on DU, used to be a candidate in the race, but dropped out and endorsed another candidate, and we're both still involved pretty deeply in the race.)

And you're right -- either way, it'll be hard to sleep. I learned my lesson in 2000 and 2002 -- I'm too emotionally invested in this to actually be able to sleep on election night, so the Wednesday off is essential.

And welcome to DU! :toast:

10. Hopefully I am going to go over
to my next door neighbor, the one with the REALLY, REALLY GIANT FLAG hanging off the front of his house, the one who is worried about all the welfare queens taking all of his money, that one, and I am going to offer him a stiff drink. I try to be kind.

13. Oh, shit. Welfare is a drop in the bucket compared to corporate welfare
and the billions in havoc Bush has reaped upon this country since he tool office.

Enron alone could probably pay for Social Services many times over, and the fraud in Welfare is minimal compared to CORPORATE FRAUD!

This guy has to go. Don't EVEN get me started.

15. I just hope I don't get carted off to the loonie bin.
I've become totally obsessed with Bush's defeat, to the point that it has started to hurt relationships, affect my job performance, and adversely affect my health.

I'll be devastated if Bush wins. If he loses, I don't know how I will react. My nightmare scenario is that the night ends with nothing decided, like last year, and the whole thing drags on for weeks.

Edited on Sat Apr-03-04 09:47 PM by Skeptical Democrat
I'll go to bed early and get up early for the marathon that follows.

Every indication is still that it will be another close election. Yes, I'll be nervous too.

edit: Maybe I'll resort to drinking!

23. I Will Be Looking for a Bar or a Friend with Fox News on TV
I don't have Fox on cable anymore, so I will have to watch it in a bar.

Let me explain why I will be watching Fox.

In 2000 (after Gore was initially projected to win Florida), every member of the so-called "Fox news all-stars" had a "deer in the headlights" look that I have waited 4-years to see again. Liasson, Barnes, and Kondracke were dumbfounded and heartbroken. Unfortunately, it didn't last long enough. I want to see it again.

I think Kerry wins big this year. But, I do hope that the election is close enough to raise the hopes of the Fox news people so that I can see those hoped get dashed on TV and drink a beer in celebration.

24. Oh man. Take pictures.
Share. I'd like to see that.

I remember the brief glory I felt when they called Florida for Gore. It was so short lived and followed by a nightmare.
