Prolonging the primaries can actually help the Democrats
Everyone thinks the Democrats will be hurt if the primary race continues. I'm thinking the opposite could be true. As the election continues, the media spotlight stays on the Democrats and that is helpful. John McCain really can't do anything to compete with that.

2. I don't see it that way
core constituencies are alienated by negative campaigning.

3. McCain does not benefit from the spotlight anyway.
He's better off with the "above the fray", "war hero" tags.

Disagreed with earlier posts today with the same point of view and I had a lot of company; hope we're wrong.

4. McCain's campaign commercials will just be clips of the loser in the primaries attacking the winner.

5. no, sorry
The media spotlight you are talking about would apply to coverage of the Miss America pageant. As this progresses, the media spotlight will be driving up the negatives of Obama and Hillary. Everything that can be spun as a negative about these two, even if the reality is the opposite, will be aired in public and will be in the minds of voters. McCain can't believe his luck. Two terms of Bush and the Democrats are doing everything they can to counter all of the Democratic trends this cycle, just shooting ourselves in the foot.

6. IMO keep it going
There are a few reasons, first the rethugs will not know who to smear until then. Second whoever wins will have the benefit of competition, that's a good thing, as we get to know more about them. third, the longer they go on the more progressive and populist they must become to satisfy all of us. I hope everyone can calm down and try to figure ways to elect Dems.
