The goal would be to get us a candidate. I suspect they wanted to let Hillary have her firewall and when they saw that she hadn't improved her delegate situation, decided to go ahead and do this. Doing it the day after the election when votes are still being counted would be too soon.

Especially seeing how this is still being floated after yesterday's primaries. I suspect that the delegate margin from yesterday is enough to convince this block that Obama is the only viable candidate and the Hillary attacks are only hurting the Democrats in the Fall. 50 supers won't seal the deal, but it will go a long way toward it.

A spokesman for Barack Obama told On Call that Tom Brokaw's earlier report, that there are 50 superdelegates ready and willing to announce their support for the IL senator, is incorrect.

The spokesman wrote flatly in an e-mail: "It's wrong."

Now that would add a little fairness to the process. If the delegate bomb did go through, Hillary would still be making out much better than she deserves.
