Hey Hillbots. 13 percent of conservatives voting for Hill in Texas thought Obama was more electable
http://dallasmorningviewsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/03/rushing-to-reas.html

It's a similar story in Texas, where Limbaugh has the most listeners of any of these states. Obama won the Republican vote 52-47, but conservatives (22 percent of all voters, up from 15 percent in the Kerry-Edwards primary) went against Obama. For the first time since Super Tuesday, they were Clinton's best ideological group: She won them 53-43. And Clinton won 13 percent of the people who said Obama was the most electable candidate.

Ohio didn't wind up being very close, but Clinton won the Texas primary by about 98,000 votes out of 2.8 million cast. If the exits are right, about 252,000 of those voters were Republicans, and about 618,000 were conservatives. Clinton truly might have won the Texas primary on the backs of Rush Limbaugh listeners.

What was that about the tide turning?

1. Boy, Limbaugh and his minions are showing how dangerous they
can be. I don't know why this is legal, but it doesn't say much for the people when they can't think for themselves.

2. Rush's objective is to weaken Obama because he wants the Repubs to win.
He thinks Hillary is weaker than Obama against McCain, so he's been telling his listeners for weeks to vote for Hillary in order to stop Obama.

3. This supports my sense. Much of the supposed momentum gain from OH and TX
was due to Limpball's drones messing with our nomination process. PA has a closed primary. We'll see.

6. That's not what the poll says.
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/index.html#TXDEM

If you actually bothered to read the damn thing it says 17% of those who thought Obama was the most electable in the fall voted for Clinton. Voters do this sort of thing all the time when electability is not their primary concern.

8. Obama won the Rep vote in TX. As for Dem conservatives
do we have any reason to think they are heavy Rush listeners?

16. Maybe you enjoy "libertarain" analysis touting Rush repeatedly being posted on a Democratic site.
I don't.

Here's the facts.

Only 9% of TX Dem primary voters were GOPers. And Obama won that group handily.

14. So you don't need Hillary voters?
Because calling us "bots" is an expression of extreme contempt. There is something ugly about Obama's support that bodes very ill for this nation.

17. Neutral observation:I've been wondering how accurate exit polls were re party self-identification
That's so interesting that 252k identified themselves as Rs but 618k as conservative. I wonder what the result would be if someone compared voter rolls from 2008 to 2004 and 2000 and determined how many of the people who voted in 2008 D primary voted in R primary in 2004 and/or 2000. I personally know several Rs who voted in D primary this year and will vote R in GE.

21. OK then. Let's only allow registered Dems to take part in the Dem primaries.
It's the only way to prevent the danger that lifelong right-wing Republicans will suddenly decide on election day to vote in our primary for who they see as the weaker candidate.

OK, so if we had done it this year, then Hillary would be the nominee. But that's OK, no? :eyes:

23. It is estimated that 8-9% of her totals in Ohio and Texas were Limbaugh mischief-makers.
And the GOP is right out front without shame over the prospect of doing it again if Florida and Michigan re-vote. Limbaugh made it very clear that the GOP wants Hillary to continue running her fear/race-baiting campaign and take the lumps and in the process "bloody up Barack" for the GE.
