Hillary nomination = widespread Democratic losses in Congress, gubernatorial races
Bill Clinton 2.0, except worse, as Hillary is even more polarizing and has even higher negatives. Bye bye Democratic majority. I'll be tuning out for the next 8 years as we steadily lose any majority we may have created over the past 8. Maybe this Clinton won't appoint Supreme Court justices who are already like 65 years old at the time of their appointment (See Ginsburg and Breyer)? I'm trying to find solice somewhere. I have yet to hear a convincing argument that Hillary can aid down ticket races.

1. I would have agreed with you on this a few days ago...
However, after talking to many people about it, I just don't buy it. Those I talked to pretty much shared the same sentiment. Even if they can't stand Hillary, and even if they won't vote for her, they are still going to vote for everything else.

3. The argument is that she supercharges voters on the OTHER side,
not voters who are going to vote dem anyway.

7. I'm not sure what there is to disagree with. It's a fact of history.
Bill and Hillary Clinton drove GOP turnout through the roof in the 1990's.

20. May I remind you about what happened in 1968 and 1980.
If we don't have a candidate who energizes the base, enough people don't even bother coming out to vote to let the Republicans win.

2. Tunnel vision at it's worst...
....Hilary is right behind Obama now...she has a lot of fervid supporters who have shown tghe past week that they are really behind her...you Obama-ites keep talking about her strong support for your candidtae...guess what? Others have strong support and inspire as well.

12. There Is A Big Difference - HRC Is A Top Down Candidate - Obama Is A Bottom Up Candidate
HRC only cares about HRC, not the democratic party, don't kid yourself.

31. That has no bearing on the fact that she will unite and energize the republicans
Not to mention how many of Obama's supporters are new voters who will probably tune out if he isn't nominated.

5. Agreed. She is poison to the entire party. She is such a universally negative polarizing candidate..
...it just beggars believe that folks around here STILL don't get it...

We KNOW that republicans don't like her, we KNOW that she can't sway the Indies, and she has such HIGH negatives amongst her own frickin party, that to think that she could beat ANYONE in the fall is simply foolish...

10. Clinton ANYWHERE on the ticket spells disaster EVERYWHERE except for...
...the People's Republic of Berkley...

Hillary as the nominee guarantees a low Dem turnout, a high republic turn out and any indies that bother will probably go 3rd party or rethug..in other words a third term for bush...

..and all this because of her huge ego...

If she truly cared for the country and the party she should bow out now...while she's still behind by only 150 delegates...

If she politicks her way onto the ticket the gop win and she will shatter the party...

I have heard from many people (unfortunately) that if Clinton is the nominee they will stay home and not even bother to vote.

9. Bill Clinton lost Congress because he didn't have the internet, and Conservatism was on the rise.
The internet is here, now, though, and it's nigh impossible for any Democratic President to lose more and more. The country is going liberal.

34. Are you nuts?
Conservatives know how to use the internet too. Their politics may be straight out of the stone age but their organizational and communication skills are not.

Have you heard of the Voter Vault, the database which holds data on about 170 million voters?

Or taken a long look around the blogosphere?

Any candidate going into the GE with your attitude would (deservedly) flame out spectacularly. The internet doesn't make people liberal, it just magnifies existing trends. It can 'make' people conservative just as easily.

it really has nothing to do with the will of the people. It's who will bring dems to the polls to re-elect supers.

23. The Clintons are really bad at party building.
The stunning 1994 GOP takeover of Congress vis a vis Newt's Contract With America was repeated: In 1998, Bill Clinton was re-elected overwhelmingly, but the Democrats ate sh*t down ballot.

Obama is utilizing Howard Dean's 50-strategy and winning. That's how we build a coalition, that's how we win.

35. Since it is impossible for Hillary to WIN with the pledged delegates,
the ONLY way for her to get the nomination is for the SuperDelegates to overturn the will of the people and give the nomination to Hillary.
If this occurs, there will be TROUBLE, and mass defections from the Democratic Party.
Say bye-bye to the 50 State Democratic Party and ALL the new voters Obama has registered as Democrats.

Hillary will be slaughtered in the GE, and will take down the Dem majorities in Congress.

I am NO Obama fan.
I see him as the lesser of two conservative Democratic evils (barely), but would much rather say President Obama than President McCain.
