CLINTON challenges OBAMA to run POSITIVE campaign??? |
|
This fecal matter must cease! I just saw this reported on MSNBC - that Hillary Clinton is challenging Barack Obama to run a more positive campaign from here on! HRC's incredibly cynical campaign strategy is wholly based on projection - the kind where one's own deficiencies are projected on someone else. It was Hillary who claimed Obama comforted to Canadians - but it was her campaign that actually did it. It was Hillary who said McCain had the "life experience" to answer the phone at 3 am. It was Hillary who said Obama is not a Muslim "As far as I know..."
Fecal Matter! She CANNOT win the nomination mathematically, so what other ways are left? She cannot issue this challenge, because she's not capable of running anything remotely resembling a positive campaign.

The media was the first ones asking about the tax returns. The media reported on Clinton's comments re: Mississippi first.
This isn't Obama digging up dirt. This is him asking the same questions that the media has asked.

Not at all. You Hillary supporters do not seem to get the fact that she is damaged goods. Damaged bads, actually. Damaged, damaged, damaged. I'm not going to do a list or give you any links, because you are all ostriches wearing rose-colored glasses. But you need to see what is really going on here, and that what's at stake here is not HRC's inevitability, but the Democratic party - and therefore the whole country.
Not to mention the fact that she is not even a Democrat - and this IS democraticunderground.

35. The Clintons are great campaign strategists, in the sense that they |
|
are good at "hardball" politics and negative campaigning, but they are also quite good at sensing when is the right time to switch, at least briefly, to a positive message (like suggesting a joint ticket). They then rinse and repeat with a great sense of timing.
They know that negative campaigning works, but also that constant negative campaigning would probably sink her.

Logically, wouldn't Hillary challenging Obama to be more positive and less negative, indicate that he IS ALREADY the "tougher," more dirty fighting candidate --ie. the candidate MOST likely to beat McCain and the thugs? (according to current spin that America wants to see The Battle of the Titans.
This reeks of Rove. But doesnt it also give Obama some cred with the bloodthirsty masses?
Obama should just smile and say OK.

|
In the end, it is to your advantage if you are "perceived" to be the positive candidate. Hillary was desperate before the TX and OH primaries. If she had lost them, many would have been asking for her to step aside. She had no choice but to go negative. Now she is back in the running and it is time to be the "positive" candidate. Very smart.

105. Actually, the voters in Ohio exit polls found her campaign to be |
|
very negative, attacking Obama unfairly--sometimes it works, sometimes it backfires. In WI, it backfired on her to go negative, in OH, it helped her. The problem lies in her ending up looking like a buffoon by claiming a positive campaign--she's becoming a parody of herself. Let's see if anyone buys it.

110. Most posts on this thread are humerous |
|
People act like they would be happier if Clinton had instead said: "During the closing weeks of this campaign it is important for voters to focus on all the reasons why my primary opponent is the wrong person to represent our Party in the fall election, and to see for themselves exactly why he lacks the ability to lead our nation. I intend to reveal all of his failings as a person, as a Democrat, and as a potential leader."
I can't count all the threads here that warned of the dangers of Democrats tearing each other apart making it easier for McCain to win the General Election. I can't count all the threads that warned Clinton was about to throw the kitchen sink at Obama, pulling the entire Democratic Party down with her in a malicious death grip. I can't begin to capture all the rage people have expressed against Clinton over her supposedly wanting a Democratic blood bath. And if anything the anger is greater on this thread that she is suggesting the opposite.
I understand people being cynical. I understand Obama supporters believing this type of approach can't help Hillary now. But the virtual rage being expressed at her for daring to suggest both campaigns stay positive after all the rage being expressed at her for supposedly forcing both campaigns to go negative reveals the only real agenda many Obama supporters have here: Make Hillary Clinton go away.
Fine, bend yourself over backwards in contortions. She is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't because, bottom line, you simply damn her.

You don't all but have a news conference several weeks ago announcing your new 'kitchen sink' strategy of going negative and attacking your opponent, all but recommend a Republican over him, leave out sly innuendos and childish photograph games to bring into question his religion, steal a page out of the Republican play book with the 3 AM ad, and then turn around right after some big primaries and accuse your opponent of doing exactly what you were just doing.
If she wants to tone down the rhetoric and go completely positive from here on out I'm sure Obama will be happy to oblige. But to throw out that comment and the bit about Starr after what she has been up to the past several weeks is absurd. Does she think we are that stupid we weren't paying attention before Ohio and TX?

No one is more vulnerable to character and ethics attacks than Hillary Clinton. Obama has, so far, avoided getting down in the mud with Hillary, but it's pretty clear that's gonna change. Expect Norman Hsu, Marc Rich and Brenda Stronach to become household words.
And don't forget: Obama will have the added advantage that his allegations will actually be true.
