Should Kerry hire a Bush lookalike for the campaign?
Hear me out on this!

First, I know that it's not in the best interests of a Bush lookalike to bash the very man who'd supposedly make him more money by staying in the White House.. so the imposter would have to be a pretty moderate-to-liberal person to agree to such a thing. Either that, or we could have someone whose face is similar to Bush's, and then he could be made-up by a make-up artist to look alike. Surely there's some liberal Hollywood talent willing to help his/her country in such an endeavour?

So.. I think Kerry needs to hire a Bush lookalike and have little "sketches" on the campaign trail. Perhaps have the Bush imposter give really bad (i.e., typical) speeches that reflect poorly on the real Bush. And there could be mock debates between Kerry and "Bush", and awckward photo ops, etc.

It'd get some good press coverage; creativity on the campaign trail always does (you can check with Dr Dean on this principle). I can imagine the CNN anchors laughing their asses off at the biweekly antics of fake Dubya..

And the humor would play well with folks.. humor is probably THE most under-used political weapons available. It relaxes the listener, allowing that person to be more apt to agree. And, most of all, good humor is based on the truth of the matter. People laugh because, deep down, they know there's honesty at the base of it.

And of course, there would be the idiotic .5% out there who really think that it's the real George W Bush doing all of these asinine things on the campaign trail. It'd be the real Dubya running scared away from the Shetland ponies. It'd be the real Dubya with the arm floaties in the swimming pool. It'd be the real Dubya wetting his pants at a bad moment during a "debate" with Kerry.

I can imagine the possibilities.. this is so ripe! Should I forward this idea to the campaign?

1. The Repugs would find a way to spin it
They'd say something like Kerry hired someone to imitate Bush and be a strawman because he couldn't argue against the real thing.

2. personally, I think he should just use a "stand in"

Like a potted plant, or a lump of dirt, and use it to highlight the fact that Bush doesn't have the balls to step up and debate him on the issues.

"So, Senator Kerry, what is your plan for fixing the mess in Iraq?"
<Kerry answers>
"And now let's hear from Mr. Bush's representative."
<potted plant just sits there>
"And there you have it, folks. We'll be back again next week for another debate."

:evilgrin:

4. I don't know about that particular idea..
but maybe Kerry should go on Saturday Night Live to get some publicity and maybe poke a litttle fun at Bush in the process..

Didn't McCain go on SNL while he was campaigning in 2000?

6. How About the "Bush" Actor from Leno?
I forget the actor's name, but he does a great "Bush" on the Leno show. He wouldn't necessarily have to be on the campaign trail; he can just make an appearance at the Convention in Boston.

The guy is an absolute scream. He could just show up and say he thought that it was the GOP convention. You could so many things with him just for laughs. Just laughing at the enemy can have an uplifting effect on the crowd....and maybe demoralize the opposition.

Just a thought.

GO KERRY!

8. Not "presidential" enough. Kerry needs to keep his serious demeanor, imho.
That doesn't preclude someone else doing this though.
