Superdelegate Teresa Benitez-Thompson (Nevada) Endorses Obama.
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 02:45 PM by Kristi1696
"Chicago, IL –Teresa Benitez-Thompson, a superdelegate from Nevada announced she is supporting Senator Barack Obama for President today, citing his ability to bring new voters into the Democratic Party:

“This year, Democrats are graced with the opportunity to choose among excellent candidates for our nation’s highest office. After careful thought, it is my honor today to endorse Sen. Barack Obama who, day by day and state by state, is challenging politics as usual and engaging so many new, diverse, Democratic voters. These new voters will propel Sen. Obama to victory in November and help elect great Democrats at the state and local level.”

Teresa Benitez-Thompson is the First Vice Chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party."

Looks like we're starting to see those fabled 50 superdelegates roll out!

GOBAMA!

ETA: Gotta love the "coattails" shout-out in the endorsement!

3. 5 min later WV Congressman Rahall Endorses Obama
http://www.wsaz.com/news/headlines/16339466.html

Congressional Quarterly reported Thursday that West Virginia Congressman Nick Rahall has endorsed Barack Obama for president.

Rahall told CQ that, "the new voters he has brought to the process this year and the new direction, in my opinion, add up to what our country needs.”

Rahall indicated he gave Obama his endorsement privately up to a week and a half ago. Rahall is also a superdelegate and joins United States Senator Jay Rockefeller as the only supers in West Virginia to endorse Obama. So far, superdelegates Marie Prezioso and Belinda Biafore have endorsed Hillary Clinton.

Rahall acknowledged that his choice of Obama might not be popular with voters in his district, which includes Cabell County.

Other superdelegates, including Senator Robert Byrd and Governor Joe Manchin, have stayed neutral.

If I were a superdelegate, I would throw my support to Barack immediately! Wouldn't want those Clinton operatives crawling over my lawn and sifting through my trash!

16. Dems, particularly those in red states, know ALL about winning battles, but losing wars.
The battles are local and state seats. The war is turning their states blue. They understand the importance of coattails and that is why they're endorsing Obama.
