1. And what about not being there for the FISA vote,
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 02:55 PM by LSparkle
even though it was held the day of the Potomac Primaries
(as I recall), so she should have been in the region ...

3. Even Mother Jones doesn't characterize it that way.
"Many hearings occur on Capitol Hill without all members--or even a majority of members--of the committee in attendance. In fact, that's more common than not. At plenty of hearings, the committee chair is the only senator or representative present. So it's no surprise or scandal that Clinton was not there for these two Afghanistan hearings. (She did participate in two hearings on Afghanistan held by the committee in the first half of 2007.) But in a campaign season, a spinner could easily say that she's guilty of the same charge she tosses at Obama: putting presidential campaigning ahead of Afghanistan. Her neglect, certainly, is not the same as his: he held no hearings for a year; she attended no hearings this year. But as Clinton throws the kitchen sink at Obama, she ought to make sure nuts and bolts don't bounce back at her."

Obama has yet to hold a single meeting in his tenure(not just 2008) as chairman.

I am sick of her hypocrisy - she is like a right-winger.

5. The OP asked about 2 meetings on Afghanistan Clinton missed,
Mother Jones confirmed she missed these two meetings.

7. OP asked of Hillary MIA on Afganistan not missing two meetings.
Same with your post which mischaracterizes the Mother Jones article.

"Her neglect, certainly, is not the same as his: he held no hearings for a year; she attended no hearings this year."

14. Maybe because Biden would have stopped him -because Afghanistan is well
covered in the full committee and the Near East and South Asia committee. That's where the hearings on Afghanistan have been for years - because Afghanistan is NOT in Europe.

13. No matter who ran the Europe subcommittee, they wouldn't run hearings on Afghanistan
The most important ones with the most important topics were in the full committee, as LUGAR's aide said they should be. Afghanistan hearings that are were on other issues -- like heroin - were in the near east and south Asia committee.
