Excuse me, but where was HRC's "concern" for Florida voters in 2000?
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 03:13 PM by Truth Hurts A Lot
This happened during the final chapter of her co-Presidency with Bill. Both of them remained silent as Florida voters were robbed under Bill's watch.

...after Mr. Gore won the popular vote but Mr. Bush prevailed after six weeks of struggle over Florida, black members of the House stood up to protest the results pleading for a senator to join their objections, but none did.

Mrs. Boxer said that in retrospect "it was a mistake not to object four years ago."

1. Question. Do you know she was in the Senate?
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 03:04 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
She was elected in 2000. Was she even sworn in yet?

I would have thought the body ruling on the electors was the old senate, not the incoming senate.

51. Yes. Certification of the election took place at the beginning of 2001
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 06:50 PM by democrattotheend
She had just been sworn in.

It was definitely the new Senate, but with the outgoing VP...I remember there being speculation that if it went to the House and Senate, Bush would get the presidency because the House picks the president, but if everyone voted along party lines in the Senate, Gore could have ended up casting the tying vote for Lieberman to be VP. Remember, this was back when Lieberman was at least sort of a Democrat.

15. President Clinton quote 11/27/2000
"It is easy to lose what is really important, which is the integrity of the voter -- every single vote," he said. "Every single person who voted had a vote that counted just as much as mine, and so they have to sort that out in Florida."

my argument is that the OP quoted that the representatives asked for a Senator to support the proposal in order to move it forward and she was not a Senator so she could not get the issue on the docket for the Senate

22. Hillary loves to tout her long record of experience and "leadership."
And she would certainly have us believe it began long before she became a Senator of a few years.

She was certainly, at the least, a very public world figure who could have used her voice of "concern" on the matter, if not then, in the many years since.

Hillary supporters of her so-called life-long leadership want to have it both ways.

The OP asks a completely legitimate question.

not acting on the FL 2000 situation. several of us have pointed out to you that she was not IN the senate when that came up, so now you are trying to tap dance around the issue.

get a grip, and realize that some of us can actually follow the discussion.

Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 06:40 PM by chill_wind
Plenty of Americans with moral conscience and integrity didn't need Senate authority or *permission* to speak out on this unforgivible political treachery and wrong.

The point-- THE REAL POINT-- the OP is making is that she is certainly expressing her concern for the integrity of the vote- for THESE Florida voters, ISN'T SHE--- but only as it only happens to benefit HER.......right now.

CAMPAIGN POLITICS 101, anyone?

they shouldn't fight for all the votes to be counted now?

That's a crock of shit.

Didn't we used to WANT Democrats who would fight against voter disenfranchisement?

We ALL wanted them to fight hard in 2000, and they didn't. So because of that, you think they should all roll over for all of eternity? Is it possible they learned their lesson?
