Bill Nelson and everyone else involved in the illegal |
|
moving of the Primary dates for Fla/Mi should resign immediately. Then the states may re-do their Primaries. That should be the conditions. I'm tired of seeing that smarmy guy pointing the finger at Dean and the DNC, when he (Nelson) is clearly one of the people that is to blame. If His girl Hillary wasn't leading in the two states, which were understood to not count at the time, also, mind you, then this issue would be dead. There'd be no call to seat these voters per the tainted vote. These states should absolutely get another chance at this, complete with full campaigning- but the leaders who botched this so badly to feed their ego- need to go.

1. would have been way smarter for Dean and DNC |
|
to strip the superdelegates of their votes and leave the voters votes. Because it was effectively the state official superdelegates who did the harm

4. That is probably a good idea in hindsight |
|
But there is no way these votes based on the premise that they wouldn't count anyway, should count. No way, no how. A do-over or nothing at all would be the two options I'd put on the table. These politicians that caused the loss of their voters' rights should be shown the door as they are not representing their constituents.

5. I agree with Michigan and don't agree with Florida |

because there were other important issues on the ballot in Florida which a conscientious voter should have voted on. There were record breaking turnouts for primary election and all the candidates were on the ballot

9. That would have been a good solution at the time, maybe |
|
But if they were going to do that, they should have let the candidates campaign there.

if you can't school your party officials, punish the party officials - don't punish the voters

2. Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2003? |
|
Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2004, at Kerry's convention? Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2005? Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2006? Where was Obama's anti-war filibuster in 2007? Was stopping the war worth standing up, Barack? Perhaps obama's folks are asking, "If he's got more than a 2002 speech - where is it?"

10. Not a federal law, but a DNC bylaw |
|
Don't even pretend they were in the right to circumvent the primary date moving process. The rules are understood by all parties, but apparently do not need to be adhered to by a special few.

At no point was Sen. Nelson against the move, by all accounts. Had he spoken out against it and not remained insistent that the tainted vote count, I would not be so adamantly opposed to his remaining in the Senate.

14. Are you saying he should resign his Senate seat??? |
|
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 04:28 PM by dbaker41
Get real. The people of Florida elected him to that seat, and you have no business or right calling for him to resign. At first I thought you meant only that he should resign as a delegate or state party official, but from your post downthread I gather you want him out of the Senate.
Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

17. He is going to cost his state over 10 mil for a re-vote |
|
If the voters of Fla don't mind that kind of waste because a small group of politicians wanted to flex their muscle, then so be it. We all know he is one of Hillary's most vocal surrogates, so he is beyond reproach. "Let the voters be heard". With a re-vote, at the state's expense.
