Turns out "grain of salt" comment to Canada was made by a Clintonian
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080306/pl_nm/politics_usa_dc_4

The organizations said Brodie told reporters from the CTV network last week that someone from the Clinton campaign was "telling the embassy to take it with a grain of salt." CTV probed the remark and then ran a story focusing on Obama.

Well, whaddaya know?

There is another group of people who always accuse others of the things they are doing themselves. I've tried to be fair, but this is rather shitty.

2. The point was Obama's reaction. This was never a scandal, but it
is revealing the candidate's weakness.

5. oh, so they conspired with a RW Gov't and LIED to "test" Obama?

8. You're shocked that other nations mess w/us? Sorry, but time will
give you more experience. Even I'm too young to remember the Cuban missile crisis personally, but if you don't think states are independent actors ... grow up.

6. When was the question asked of the Clinton campaign?
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 03:36 PM by featherman
"Did someone in your campaign call the Canadian Embassy to assure them that the NAFTA talk should be taken with "a grain of salt"?

Was this question ever asked of the Clinton campaign?

It was denied by the Obama campaign and truthfully so.

9. Now do you see the hand behind the curtain? Of course this was
arranged ... but Obama had a chance and blew it. We'll see how HRC does when she's tested ... after 9/11, she grew to the role required, so I'm confident in my candidate.

11. She grew to the role...
by voting to invade a country that had nothing to do with 9/11...

:wow:

your confidence is badly misplaced.

And voted as the junior senator should. Yes, she's grown in the role.

24. Right after 9/11? You'll full of it. I marched later ... years later, with
DUers in Manhattan and my neighbors in Brooklyn. I've even uploaded video to YouTube.

I'll stake my cred against anyone here. You don't know what you're talking about ... after 9/11, remember the traffic restrictions Rudy instituted? Not a word from the City Council.

You're entitled to your opinion, but not an alternate set of facts. We got hit and hurt. HRC responded well and earned our respect.

29. Are you saying that the decision to invade Iraq
because Iraq was Muslim, had a despotic ruler, and MAY have had WMDs, but with ZERO evidence that they were behind 9/11... that decision is one you support?

And you fully support Hillary's complicit vote to use force?

19. She grew into her role of believing George Bush and Condi Rice's lies, and
of making calculated political votes with people's lives. Good work, Hillary!

18. Nope. Obama reacted appropriately. He never sent an advisor to
reassure Canada about NAFTA, and thus he told the truth. The media just spun it against him. And Hillbots want to keep perpetuating it. Turns out, it was HER telling Canada to take it with a grain of salt.

And they informed Obama today to quit running a negative campaign. It's calling out your opponent while doing what you claim the opponent is doing.

unequivocally denied there was a meeting. And there was.
So he comes across as uninformed at best. Which is NOT a good thing.

23. There was no meeting that he knew about, in terms of what CTV was alleging.
They dredged up the Goolsbee thing after the fact, and it turns out, the Obama camp didn't intiate that or know about it.

28. I think the conservative Harper government in Canada
Wanted to diminish both Democratic candidates equally (i.e. "neither is really serious about canceling NAFTA"). Somewhere along the line (CTV?), somebody made the attack more about Obama than Clinton. I don't know if Harper wanted to harm Obama over Clinton, as much as he wanted to help McCain over both of them.

It was stupid of Harper to inject himself into the U.S. election. But remember that he is a Conservative, so his sympathies will lie with Republicans.
