Poll question: Another Veep poll
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 03:41 PM by dajoki
It may or may not be too early to start thinking about this, but I'm curious to see what's on people's minds. Since both candidates will basically be picking from the same pool, who is your money on? Let me know who YOU would like and why and who you think THEY will pick. I would like to put Edwards in but I don't think that is likely.

2. Graham: Experience without vacating a current seat
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 03:45 PM by JaneQPublic
Most of the the others are senators (and a governor), who frankly are too valuable where they are to use as a VP.

Graham has tons of experience in foreign relations, plus he's popular in Florida.

20. Graham read the NIE. He's the only candidate that can overcome Election Fraud in FL
he's a good guy.

3. I think they would draw from different pools
Biden said long ago he wouldn't want to play 3rd fiddle to Bill. Dodd already endorsed Obama. etc.

8. Well...
you are partially right, but there is a finite number of choices. Also Clark endorsed Clinton.

16. I heart Huckabee
Except Danny Glover dressed up as a Kofi Annan look-alike. That character was kinda creepy.

5. Oh, I forgot...
I think Clark would be tremendous help to either candidate, with his military experience and being from the south.

6. I like Clark, too.
But wonder if he wouldn't be more valuable as Defense Sec.

Plus, since he's been campaigning for Hillary, I doubt he'd be on Obama's list for VP.

7. I think Richardson would be Obama's best choice for VP because . . .
he would bring Hispanics that went for Hillary back into fold.

Clark is a tempting choice from a national security perspective, but I do question his judgment, only somewhat, based on his endorsement of Hillary over Obama.

Edwards would be a fantasic choice, but I don't think that is going to even be an option.

13. Yup, Richardson
I agree about bringing Latinos into the Obama camp. While the skyrocketing negativist attitudes and hostile language of the GOP toward undocumented immigration suggests that this will be a bad year for the Republicans with Latinos, McCain seems to be immune to this effect. So yeah, we need to one-up McCain by choosing Richardson. It doesn't hurt that he has a great resume, too.

The other strong pro-Hillary demographic, women, are probably less likely to abandon the party. But if I'm wrong about this point I like Sebelius or my senator, Boxer.

That's my somewhat cynical analysis of things.

11. Edwards would be better used as Attorney General
He could really sink his teeth into that post, which could really use someone like him, just to clean up the mess left behind by the Bush's three AGs.

22. I doubt that Edwards...
would even want to be on the bottom of the ticket once again, that's why I didn't include him in the poll.

12. Clark would be at the top of Hillary's list - not Obama's.
He's been much too active in her campaign for Obama to choose him. I don't think he would go onto Obama's ticket unless Hillary was for it - he's a longtime friend of the Clintons and is a very loyal guy.

15. I'm thinking Clark sounds good when originally I was very against the idea
Because he was a Hillary supporter. But when Obama wins maybe that can be seen as an olive branch to the Hillary campaign and supporters that we can accept her backers with us.

Not only is he a decorated general but has become a much better speaker and politician since 2004.

Why would he put his name in now? When this all began, he was my guy from the start.

19. That's who've I been wanting as well
I know the Senate run is an issue, but I think picking up a popular governor would help in terms of saving us a Senate seat. Plus I think he would be well groomed to make the run himself in 8 years.
