** Wait till you see what WYOMING Does!! **
Not that most of you care about the Dems in the "Red States", since we apparently don't count, and don't matter, but I think a few people may be a little surprised at what happens in 2 days, and what the turnout ends up being.

12. Obama basically predicted victory there and in MS on his plane interview ...
he said he thought he could pickup more delegates in WY and MS than Hillary did on March 4. I'm sure he wouldn't make that statement without polling support.

Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 04:48 PM by ScottS
I will say, I've been hitting the streets volunteering for one of the candidates, and the excitement over this dem. nomination is very high for what is otherwise, "historically", a very VERY republican state.

We've had people donating thousands of dollars to rent out bigger buildings in anticipation of up to 5 times as many people turning out to caucus this Saturday, than in the past.

It's all very exciting :)

I just hope the turnout matches the enthusiasm and excitement. Guess we'll see on Saturday!

Sorry, I didn't mean to create any sort of false suspense, I just didn't want this thread to seem like some sort of insult to either candidate, cause there's enough back and forth on this forum.

If you must know who I think will win, and who I'm volunteering for, find out which candidate it is that I get to meet tomorrow night in Laramie, Wyoming. Since only one of them is showing up, that shouldn't be too hard :)

52. they are all going to Wyoming
Only in the last few weeks have the campaigns stepped up their presence in the state, opening offices and calling voters and sending mailers. The first visits come Thursday, when former President Clinton makes three appearances. Obama and Hillary Clinton follow, each scheduling two events on Friday.

Every state counts. We've been writing off whole segments of the country for too long. We have to start paying attention to these states if we ever expect to be a viable national party again. Being the party of ten states is not a strategy.

I was trying to interpret the info from this page, but it does look like only 12 'pledged' delegates are at stake. So I'll call it at 9 for Obama, 3 for Clinton, with a net of +6 for Obama.

Nobody even ran any campaign ads up here except for Ron Paul. Oh, and I think maybe I saw one or two from the Mittster, but no Dems. In 2004 we didn't get any presidential campaign ads either (except on cable) -- none from Kerry, none from Bush. In a way, it's kind of nice not to have to watch all that stuff, but we do feel a little left out sometimes.

is how easily the Clinton camp has been blowing off Obama's wins in red states. I think Wyoming, Idaho, Kansas, etc. DO count. We already know we're going to win CA, NY, MA, etc. in November. But only one candidate has shown that he has what it takes to POSSIBLY bring in normally red states as well.

72. From up in the Blue Corner...
Teton County, Wyoming went Dem in 2004. Statewide we came within 1,000 votes statewide of sending a Dem to the House in the mid-terms, nearly unseating 7 term incumbent Cheney-clone Barbara Cubin. In some states folks might not recognize some Wyoming Democrats, but in contrast to Wyoming Republicans it's pretty easy to tell the difference. That's especially true in the case of our Democratic governor, but he IS a Democrat. So, we've got a Democratic governor, we may be able to get a Democratic Representative; I would be delighted to get the state to go for a Democrat in the presidential election. I personally feel that we'd have a better chance to do that with Obama, so that's where I'm going.
