Why won't either of the candidates volunteer half the cost of a Florida primary? |
|
The national party refuses to pay the estimated $20 million to hold a new primary. The state of Florida refuses.
Both Clinton and Obama are raking in huge amounts of cash. Are they allowed by law to contribute any of it to running a primary?

Political parties are given wide latitude to control their own affairs.

5. most of the money they have raised has already been spent or earmarked |
|
for upcoming "events". 10-20 million dollars is a lot to have in walking around cash. Lastly it reeks of not being an ethical way to hold an election.

Would it be unethical if the national Democratic Party paid for it?

11. I know what you're saying and really |

I don't have a good answer other than it just feels/seems unethical. I don't know how to splain it more than that. However, if we could move past this issue it still leaves the money issue(s) for both campaigns.

Possibly, make it a mail-in vote to cut costs in FL.

First of all, why should they? Second, people didn't contribute that money thinking it would be spent subsidizing states that are too stupid to have their primaries at the right time. Third, it would make the Democratic Party look even more lame than it already does due to this fiasco. Fourth, it has, at the least, the appearance of impropriety.

I am sick of this shit.
Let Sen. Nelson and the fucking FL Democratic Party pay.
Time to put up and shut has passed. FL should have abided by the rules.
