Daily Kos Diary from Geekesque:

Desperate Clinton crosses 'the Joe Lieberman threshold'

by Geekesque
Thu Mar 06, 2008 at 01:39:37 PM PST

In a turn of phrase no doubt authored by the poison Penn, Hillary Clinton is now peddling bull manure packaged inside more bull manure with bull manure labeling.

And, she's doing everything she can to get John McCain elected.

The pro-McCain talking points below the fold.

Geekesque's diary :: ::
Today's new standard: "Crossing the Commander-in-chief threshold."

What's that, you ask?

Beats the hell out of me. Is it the secret entrance to the West Wing? A line in the sand somewhere? I got nothing.

You think I'm making this up?

I'm not.

"I think that since we now know Sen. (John) McCain will be the nominee for the Republican Party, national security will be front and center in this election. We all know that. And I think it’s imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold," the New York senator told reporters crowded into an infant’s bedroom-sized hotel conference room in Washington.

"I believe that I’ve done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you’ll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy," she said.

Calling McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee a good friend and a "distinguished man with a great history of service to our country," Clinton said, "Both of us will be on that stage having crossed that threshold. That is a critical criterion for the next Democratic nominee to deal with."

I will tell you what I know about this, though.

It's an attempt to poison the well for Barack Obama in 2008. Her goal is two-fold:

To make Obama appear as unelectable as possible to scare Superdelegates into voting for her at the convention; and
if that doesn't work, to make sure that McCain defeats Obama in November so she can run again in 2012 and scold the party with "I told you so."

"There are certain critical issues that voters always look to in a general election. National security experience (and) the qualifications to be commander-in-chief are front and center. They always have been. They always will be," she said.

She said she and McCain had traveled to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan together as she repeated a line that surfaced from the campaign trail. She and McCain "bring a lifetime of experience to the campaign, Clinton said, while "Sen. Obama will bring a speech he gave in 2002," stating his opposition to the Iraq war as an Illinois state senator.

Folks, for 2008, Hillary Clinton has one overriding goal:

Prevent Barack Obama from winning the White House.

If that means she wins, great. But, if that means handing the White House to the Republican and John McCain, that's also acceptable. Because, after all, there's always 2012.

Her worst case scenario is Barack Obama defeating her close friend and ally, John McCain.

She has crossed a threshold.

Not the "Commander in chief threshold."

She's crossed the "Joe Lieberman Threshold" by campaigning on behalf of the Republican nominee for President.

Hillary again endorses McCain over Obama, in 3 more TV appearances

She said it three more times in the past day. Why the hell is she saying that the Republican candidate is more qualified to be president than our own presumptive nominee? And what the hell does our party plan to do on stopping this train wreck? She can't win, it's over, she doesn't have the delegates and can't get the delegates. She's hoping she can destroy Obama and step in after he's toast. And if she's wrong, she'll simply leave Obama destroyed for the general election campaign against McCain, the guy she has now said four times is more qualified to be president than our presumptive nominee. Here is the first time she endorsed McCain over Obama, and watch her three additional TV appearances below.

2nd time: " never been president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002."

3rd time: "I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House. I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002."

4th time: "Of course, well, you know, I've got a lifetime of experience. Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience. And you know, Senator Obama's whole campaign is about one speech he made in 2002."

1. She's also crossed my personal "Joe Lieberman threshold"
I can no longer stand to see her face or hear her voice. If she appears on television, I change the channel immediately.

2. I prefer to call it
the 'Throw Obama under the bus' threshold - because as much as Clinton's acolytes defended it the first time, there are very few of them defending it this time.

I hear the faint sound of scales falling away from eyes, all over GDP. Let's hope this moment of clarity is long lasting.

8. Maybe when you clean yourself up,
you can try defending your candidate.

Oh, wait. There is no defense. Never mind. Keep laughing.

13. Yeah you're right
that was fucking brilliant how Hillary fought back in TX, RI and OH from being ahead by double digit leads. Kos is not the issue here, what is at issue is what she has said now twice this week, and both times has been reported via several viable sources besides Kos.

I am not into calling people names like lieberwoman or anything else, but I am concerned about the language she has used now in such a short time.

but guess what? Shrillary hurts herself with her tone deaf comments, too, because:

1) McCain will use her own words about experience and readiness for CiC against her since he's not only got longer lifetime experience, his is bona fide and really his. NOT derived from being someone's spouse. Plus he's got the military cajones she lacks on so many levels...

2) She will lose in November since repukes loathe her, indies will not lean her way and now she has alienated many Dems who will simply abstain from voting for the top of the ticket.

So hahahahahahahahaha, LOSER!

5. Mark Penn (Hillary)=Charles Black (McCain) joined at the hip

Mark J. Penn is a man who wears many hats: high-paid political and corporate pollster, chief executive of an international communications and lobbying company, and chief strategist to New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Enough connections for you?

Well, there are more. Penn's firm, Burson-Marsteller Worldwide -- with 2,000 employees and $300 million a year in revenue -- owns BKSH & Associates, the major lobbying firm chaired by Charles R. Black Jr. That's right, Black, counselor to Republican presidents, and now John McCain's advisor reports to Clinton's top strategist.

The connections get even more entangled. Burson-Marsteller is a subsidiary of WPP Group, a London-based advertising and PR giant that owns many of the biggest names on K Street. These include Quinn Gillespie & Associates, Wexler & Walker Public Policy Associates, Timmons & Co., Ogilvy Government Relations Worldwide (formerly the Federalist Group), Public Strategies Inc., Dewey Square Group and Hill & Knowlton.

To be more precise, Penn's parent company employs as lobbyists and advisers an ex-chairman of the Republican National Committee (Edward W. Gillespie), a former House GOP leader (Robert S. Walker), a top GOP fundraiser (Wayne L. Berman), and the former media adviser to President Bush (Mark McKinnon).

31. Obama actually campaigned for Lieberman,

did you not know that?

And I'm not talking about 2000, but about 2006, when Holy Joe left the party and ran as an independent after Lamont won the Dem primary.

All Clinton did was acknowledge that McCain has a lot of experience.

It's a fact, as is his history as a war hero and POW who endured torture during 5 1/2 years in captivity. Democrats would be stupid to try to deny his experience; it would insult all military veterans and their families and friends, some of whom are Democrats.
