Clinton raises 4 million in 24 hours after big primary victories

March 6 (Bloomberg) -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has raised $4 million online since her victories this week in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island, the campaign said in a statement.

Clinton, a New York senator, gave new life to her campaign with the three wins. Illinois Senator Barack Obama, who had won 11 contests in a row, finished first in Vermont on March 4, the day's fourth primary. The next battles are in Wyoming in two days and Mississippi next week leading up to the Pennsylvania primary on April 22.

``We put everything on the line for these wins, and now it's time to put our hard-earned momentum to work,'' Clinton said in a fundraising e-mail sent after her victories. She set a goal of $3 million and surpassed it. The campaign said it had received contributions from 30,000 new donors.

Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, signed a fundraising e-mail today asking for another $3 million in the next 24 hours. ``We worked too hard to get to this point to do anything except drive towards victory in Pennsylvania and beyond,'' he wrote.

Since March 1, the Clinton campaign said it has raised around $6 million online.

Her organization, though, is drained of money and energy. Outgunned by Obama in the fundraising department, the Clinton campaign is carrying millions of dollars in debt, although officials would not say how much, and it threw everything it had into Texas and Ohio.
