Kerry should run a simple 15 second ad like this:
August 6, 2001: Bush gets briefing titled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside US."

August 7, 2001: Bush begins month long vacation in Crawford, TX.

Any questions?

3. I don't think that would work....
Some people think on vacation, especially when they're just at home.

A better ad would point out how Iraq = Chaos in 15 seconds. (A before shot from the last couple years of Saddam's closely watched reign and an after shot of the current rebellions... showing how much easier it will be for al Qiada now that it was before to have their way). Is it safer now?? I don't think so!

4. My first thought was "Genius!" But I think he was already ON vacation.
Not that that's not infuriating enough, but it makes the punchline less effective.

6. Add this to the ad
Ashcroft told not to fly on commercial jets.
Mayor Willie Brown told not to fly on 9/10.

One plane (probably the one that crashed) was supposed to hit the White House. Bush out of town on an unprecedented (for a Pres) vacation for a month - to keep him out of the WH?

On 9/11 out of Washington reading to kids. How many other trips out of the WH did he make after getting back from "vacation"?

9. OK where did the warning come from to top officials not to fly on 9/10?
Really need to pin that one down, that is just killer, IMHO...
how could anyone argue that nothing was known about potential attacks, if that is true???

10. Warning to ashcroft came from FBI
The answer found here at DU was the first one to come up on Google:

That Ashcroft avoided travel on commercial airlines by early July is a point that was raised by Sen. Clinton on the Senate floor recently. She also noted that a directive warning all justice department officials to avoid commercial air travel was issued by Ashcroft as well, shortly after a memoranda was electronically sent out to FBI headquarters in Washington and New York from Kenneth Williams, an FBI agent in Phoenix, warning of terrorists possibly training at flight schools.

8. This truth is so outrageous that many people won't believe it.
Edited on Thu Apr-08-04 12:35 PM by w4rma
Heck, I know it's true, and I'm having trouble believing it.

If the ad can be shown in a way that proves he was on vacation during a period of time and maybe photos of the official briefing or something as easily shown, it could work.

The important point in running an ad like this is to show enough proof in the ad that the viewers have a *lot* of trouble believing that the ad is a lie about their "President".

Imho.
