Why are we fighting so hard over this big pile of steaming horseshit of a mess?
Why would any Democrat want to inherit the mess that George Bush is leaving behind? And why are the Obama and Hillary supporters going at each others throats, as if they are fighting over the Ark of the Covenant? It's not like it's something desirable that we are going to get on election day.

The person that wins the election will most likely be a 4-year martyr? There's no way in hell anyone is going to clean up this disaster in 4 short years. Maybe, like Jimmy Carter after Watergate, he/she can clean it up just enough so that the Republican asswipes can come back for another 20-25 years to steal us blind once again?

Instead of something worthy of fighting over, it probably should be like a hot potato. No, you take it! No, I don't want it, you take it! It's totally irrational to fight over something that stinks as much as this mess left behind by George W Bush and Dick Cheney.

What are they going to do about the sub-rates mortgage scandal? What are they going to do about the two wars going on in the Middle East? What are they going to do about the huge debt and deficits? What are they going to do about the shrinking dollar? What are they going to do about the hatred generated around the world by these numb nuts? What are they going to do about the division created in this country? And we want to fight each other over this? What kind of masochists are we?

1. A lot of people voted for Bush for that reason
Maybe those 60,000 people in Ohio. Thanks for getting this ridiculous rationalization going again.

2. Good point, kentuck. I wouldn't want the job!

However, I keep thinking about some of the elderly Supreme Court justices, and we need to have a liberal appointed next.

4. That's something that "needs" to be done...
It's going to be a dirty job. It's a burden, not a prize to be rewarded. I understand the necessity of winning. I just don't understand the desire for it.

5. We're afraid of losing the GE to Gramps. That's why.
The Hillbots think she'll beat Gramps and the Obamaniacs think he will.

The interesting thing is, I heard Karl Rove on Faux news say that he thinks Obama will hurt Gramps much more than HRC. Why would he lie about that? I know, I know, he lies about sand. Pebbles. Flies. Anything. Everything. But, really, there are so many reports of republicans for Obama, that I really think he's the better choice.

(Hiding under bed from screaming hillbots.)

6. How about thinking about the country other than politics.
We are in a mess and it has to be fixed - if it is not already too late. But we have to try.

8. I agree with that.
We are in a mess. But we are fighting like the winner gets a gold belt or something. The winner gets a big headache and big mess to clean up. Nothing glamorous. We know it has to be fixed. Why are we fighting each other so hard over the right to shovel up this shit?

13. I see it as fighting for survival.
While I hope Obama will clean things up, I fear that Hillary and McCain are owned by the same people that own Bush and will just continue the problems. This isn't about who is president, this is about the future of everything.

15. I understand that feeling.
And I believe the people will choose the right person to lead us in the end. I don't think it accomplishes anything to kill off each other in the interim. It will take all of us to clean up this mess.

9. Huge problems and an office truly weakened by BushCo, IMO,

The "winner" will have to be a hell of a persistent fighter to take it all on and bring in very substantial Cabinet members and staff to have any chance of moving toward the lofty goals being stated.

---and I certainly am not in support of McCain's pro-Iraq fiasco brand of persistence.

11. I see progress.
We can all agree that John McCain is not the answer. Let's not give him the opportunity.

12. I agree, whoever gets it is going to be a martyr
This is a mass of sewage that is going to take a long time to clean up.

And the intensity between the two camps I think has to do with fear. They believe in "their" candidate and are terrified that the other doesn't have what it takes to clean this up.

I would be relieved to see the two of them team up and vow to face this together.

14. That is too logical and rational...
We need to keep this race in some sort of perspective. We do need to team up and face this crisis together. Let's try to maintain some sense of civility and let the people choose the person they think is best to lead us at this time without bringing out the machetes.

16. BTW...Kentuck...
I'm betting it will be another 4-year...like Carter... The PTB will rip the heart out of the Dem...and we will be back to looking for another Reagan...

But, I will hope for better...because I feel sorry for the Candidate having to deal with this mess to clean up. The barn is so full of Repug Shit...it will take years of muckrakes to try to dig it out..and you know they never let "the people" do it...they will take away our rakes if they have to.

whatever....it is what it is..

17. It's depressing as hell.
But we have to understand that in the end, united we stand and divided we fall. Most politicians are in it for the power and glory. We must be in it to watch the politicians and make sure they do what we, the people, need to have done. If we destroy each other, we only make the other side stronger. I say that, knowing how strongly each side feels about their favorite candidate. We have to be stronger than they are.

19. It's enough to make a preacher cuss.
Only the strong survive what we have all gone through, in my opinion. If it doesn't kill us, it will make us stronger.

20. I heard an interview with an economist (Williams?) state that the U.S. is
headed for a depression and that the next president will take the blame. I don't know about the guy, and don't know if he is credible, but it does look to be ominous with these abnormalities in the bond insurance.

I think everyone knows it. There will be little to celebrate once the next person walks into the White House.
